The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Thought I had already rated this this one and that I was giving it a 2nd rate. But no, ntl I still think this beer is overrated. A little too artificial and the mouthfeel is not that great. I stick with 3.6.

Slight alcohol aroma masked by dark fruit. Exceptional dark brown color. Brown head that remains through drinking and provides wonderful lacing. I taste hints of caramel, molasses, and even slight chocolate. Wonderful beer.

No mucha carbonatación.

Great fruity aroma. Alcohol is strong (in a good way). Don’t need to say anything about it. ONe of the best beers I’ve ever had.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 25.08.16. Almost ebony. Foamy and persistent beige head and lacing. Complex aroma of berries marinated in sherry, cream liquor, caramel and medium dark malt. Similar taste, with soft liquorice in aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel.

Murky dark brown, thin beige head shows nice persistence and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is in the likes of a dark fruits cake: molasses, dark/dried fruits, sugar. I’m also detecting a hint of coffee. Alcohol is detectable but not too aggressive. Taste reflects the aroma; the beer is obviously on the sweet side but pleasantly so, with a hint of spiciness in the finish. Again alcohol is detectable but not over the top, brings a warming feel. Full body, light crispness, nicely creamy mouthfeel. Good

At home, 2015 bottle (33cl). Direct comparison tasting with Westvleteren 12. Pour: dark, dunkel red, purplish, clear. Medium carb, good foam. Nose: dried fruits, sweet, dades&raisins, brown sugar / molasses, malts. Taste: first - dried fruits, dry minerals, alcohol is certainly present; mid - slight bitterness, malts; after - sirup and molasses, very pleasant. Mouthfeel: Sirupy thick consistency, aggressive carbonation and bitterness. Verdict: Very pleasant, sweet and sirupy. The alcohol is a bit too dominant to my taste.
