The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

11.3%ABV. Abt/Quadrupel Poured out a dark black brown. 35ºSRM. Nose has some clean sweet chin chow aromas. Slightly floral aspect to the nose which has chrysanthemums. Mouthfeel is soapy. Pronounced carbonation. Palate is honeyed dates, fig cake, boysenberry jam, toffee, caramel and coffee. There are some nice solid flavors of black bread, honey on graham cracker toast, darkly toasted wheat toast and creme brulee. Finish is bitter and medium. Goes on Favorites List!

Bottle. Beautiful brownish colour, smell is mild brown sugar, taste is soooo good, yeasty sweet, molasses. I can't say anything bad about this beer except it is so smooth and taste like more, and at 11,3 it's pretty dangerous.

Superb. I simply cannot fault this beer. Classic Trappist style. Compares very favourably in all departments to Westvletern, but is more readily available. Everything you’d expect from a great Belgian quad. Pours like a dark campagne with tan head. Strong fig, raisin and plum notes. Slight burn back of throat. I think a Trappist glass brings out the best this great beer has to offer. This is widely available and really a must for anyone who likes strong Belgian dark beers. I’d go so far to say everyone who likes any form of beer should try this.

Their magnum opus, although it is a tie with the 8! What taste, what aroma, what herbs and ingredients! The best trappists easily.

Una delle mie birre preferite. Tipica trappista equilibrata e corposa, forte aroma fruttato e delicato!

Poured into a trappist glass. Dark brown, mild spicy aroma. Roasted malts, fruity, sweet flavour. Nice carbonation with a little bite. Silky smooth chocolaty, velvety finish. Not my first, not my last!

It appears dark brown and hazy with a big rocky, light brown head. It contains the aroma of vanilla, dark fruits, toast, bread, some caramel and chocolate. It is very delicately balanced in taste: medium sweet due to the malts, light dry & bitter and very light sour. The body is full, the texture creamy, the carbonation perhaps a bit too lively. In the taste the alcohol is well hidden, but it hits you afterward. Though I prefer the Rochefort 8, it’s a Merry Christmas indeed with this one!

Another fine example of a Trappist quad. The notes of fig, plum, raisin and clove. Great aroma and fabulous taste and hits your palate with a burst of flavors. I always have a few in the fridge. Cheers!

From 0,33l bottle, BBD: 22.09.2020 Pours dark brown liquid, medium frothy tan head, fell down after a while, but remained at some minimum level all the time during drinking, Aroma: sweet, raisins, candied fruits, plums, spicy, light warming alcohol, Taste: heavy sweet, medium bitter, light sour, quite strong alcohol taste, sweet and fruity, plums, raisins, malty, Palate: full body, soft to average carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, long sweet alcoholic aftertaste, Overall: very nice beer, enjoyed. Bit too alcoholic on nose as well in taste, but still very good.

Couleur brun foncé; mousse beige; arômes fruités; goût malté, fruité, vineux; l’alcool se fait trop sentir; une peu trop sucrée aussi
