Smells of roasted malts and luxurious fruits. Very complex taste of raisins and sweet alcohol. Leaves the palate tingling feeling and asking for more. One of the better brewed beers I have ever drank. BelgianBeerMan (11), , Belgium
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Great aroma and appearance, but way to sweet for my taste...the 8 % is much better. One recurring theme in the ratings is how well it drinks for an 11% and I wholeheartedly agree...it will sneek up on you and you never see it coming. jmm635 (254), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 13, 2008 When I saw this brew available at a local restaurant I just had to get it! Poured a very syrupy dark brown with a small tan head. Pretty nice aroma of dark fruits like raisins and figs. Very complex flavor - strong on the malts, with hints of figs, raisins, plums, molasses, and a nice bit of alcohol. Thick on the palate, but simply too easy to drink at 11% abv! This is one mighty fine beer! BeerGestapo (738), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Brewed in Belgium... Pours a copper amber color with a very thin white head. Aroma of raisins, figs, brown sugar, and malts. The taste is of spices, caramel, pears, toffee, molasses and a slight alcohol texture. The mouthfeel is prickly at first and finishes off smooth and warming. Nice carbonation, and the 11.3% is hidden pretty well. This is a very enjoyable brew that you want to drink all night. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Thick opaque brown pour with no head. Inert with some yeasty sediment. Creamy milky aroma. Fruity with some apple notes and bourbon. Smooth creamy flavor. Honey, molasses and raisin malt flavor. Smooth and easy to drink. Hides the alcohol well. ajwilliams (118), , Indiana, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Dec 3, 2008 Pours dark brown with consistent, classy head. Aroma of figs, vanilla, brown sugar, bubble gum, alcohol, yeast. Flavor has all of these notes, plus maple, chocolate, raisons, and hops. Definitely more of a hop presence than the 8, but also more of an alcohol burn that makes the mouthfeel a little more harsh. Harsh here is still silky smooth compared to almost every beer I have had. Very complex. Amazing beer. Wim (1288), Turnhout, Belgium
