The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Takie deserowe piwo. Choć mi bardziej z Rochefortów podeszła 8. Ale i tak to klasa światowa

Pours very dark brown from the bottle. The creamy tan crown remains rather small but lingers for the duration. Quite striking is the aroma, which is inviting as well as complex; the usual roasted malt and caramel is present but portwine and cherry play strong accompanying roles. The first sip is smooth and very warming. The overall impression the beer makes is rather like a rich and sweetish tasting stout mixed with a good cognac or portwine. The tastes are really pretty amazing, and each sip is a little different, and draws you in, leaving you wanting more. Hints of caramel, plum and bubble gum are all present, and the beer finishes with a soft cherry note. The beer came to me highly recommended and has not disappointed. At 11.3 ABV and being heavy bodied and rich it is not something I could see drinking on a regular basis, but it makes an excellent digestif and would certainly be a good winter beer. The next bottle I plan to age and see how it tastes in two year’s time. Excellent.

Simply stunning. A bit different at first, when it comes to 'sweet' belgium beers, but a cery nice chocolate/caramel/dried fruits end. Goes great with some Kalamata olives

Bottle at Strawberry Thief, Bristol. Appearance: small off-white head which stays for long, dark brown colour, hazy, fair lacing. Aroma: malts + yeasts, bit of fruits. Taste: quite sweet fruity, deep taste. Palate: full bodied, but not too heavy, good carboration, long finish. Very good beer, very intensive taste with a nice aroma, perfectly balanced. Wow!
