Smells of cider and meat with flavors of dark cocoa, potato, raisins, and apple in the taste. Very earthy with a healthy amount of sediment at the bottom of the glass. Certainly worth returning to in the near future. evanrail (41), Prague, Czech Republic
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Bottle from Cheesy, Prague. Deep dark brown in color; nose of mincemeat, Christmas pudding, figs in the packinghouse, the still-juicy, half-cooked point midway from grapes to raisins. In the mouth, more fruit (orange peel, slivovice) and great tannic notes rinsing to an evenly balanced finish with just a touch of bitter back-bite. Is she difficult? Yeah. But she’s worth it. | 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Ahhh, fan-tas-tic stuff..Dark chocolate brown appearance, off-white head. Aroma of raisins, chocolate, some alcohol, malts. Flavour is rich, raisins, chocolate, malty, other dark fruits, a little tartness. Mouthfeel is very creamy and thick, lots of carbonation but not assertive. Smooth. Superb. NomDeBeer (399), Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Taste is sweet, dark fruits, cereal-tasting malts, and alcohol. For a beer of this strength, the alcohol is pretty well-hidden, but still noticeable - not distracting though. Good, but considering the price, I don’t know that I’ll ever drink it again. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 2, 2009pours a dark murky brown with a boisterous frothy head, slow to dissipate. Great aroma- can smell it from 4 feet away, but still smooth and not over-aggressive. Notes of raisin, caramel, malt. Flavor is otherworldly- aggressive alcohol, some vinous qualities, malt, raisin, dark fruit, sweet molasses. Unfairly good. Palate is wondrous, sticky but oh so gentle on the tongue. Probably my favorite beer ever. JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA

Pure flavor coming from many different sources. Very thick fruity start and a satisfying spicy finish. At almost $7 a bottle I only had one but was plenty warm once I was finished. Worth the wait!!! jameswolfe (142), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

Id be lying if I didnt say I wasnt a slight bit disspointed in this. But when you have heard so much good things, you are bound for a bit of a letdown. The beer is fantastic and complex though. Very fruity with a long bitter finish. Also one of the best looking beers in a glass.
