This is one of the best beers I have ever tried. Well worth the hype. I believe that it is better than the Westvleteren Abt 12. It is a must try logantownsend (15), bonner springs, Kansas, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Pours very dark. Dark Molasses color and a nice burnt amber head. A raisin smell with what can be described by me as butternut. Im through with the tasting now and noticed some sedinment on the bottom of my boulevard smokestack series glass, excellent sign to me of a good beer. Mouthfeel is wonderful. Coats the mouth very well with a nice long lingering flavor of the above mentioned flavors with a slight alcohol burn which is very much welcomed by this beer drinker. Top notch beer. One i am sure many brewers are trying to replicate. IDunno19 (78), Ames, Iowa, USA

Drank it cold to begin with because we didn’t have time to let it sit and warm but as the beer sat in my mouth it just blossomed with flavors. Unlike the Aventinus where I could discern each distinct flavor, this one was so complex it just flooded my taste buds. Dark amber hue and a beautiful foamy head. Smoothest thing I’ve ever tasted and worth the several months of searching.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Pours a dark brown with an off-white head that dissipates quickly. Highly carbonated. Aroma is of grape-juice/wine, molasses, and alcohol. Has a wonderful fruity finish, like a catchy song that stays with you. Hophead22 (1088), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 13, 2008 Hard to believe this beer is so easy to get. It’s liquid gold for pretty cheap. Don’t really know what more can be said about this beer that hasn’t already been said, just outstanding. Changed (164), Ithaca, New York, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 12, 2008 12 oz bottle, $6.99 (local beer store carries it all the time, but no price tag on the shelf prevented me from resisting the urge of purchasing this. when the desk worker told me it was 6.99, I nearly asked to replace it with another cheaper bottle, but I’m glad I didn’t!). Pours a deep brown, or even purple-ish color, quickly dissipating off-white head. Looking at the beer for the first time, I wondered whether my Trappist glass had been severely soiled since I washed it only minutes earlier; no! it was simply the yeast and sediment chunks gracefully settling on the bottom. First sip was like liquid ecstasy. Brown sugar, dark fruits as have been previously mentioned. Perfectly carbonated and each sip yields a different experience. For being 11.3%, this is the smoothest, most drinkable beer I’ve ever tasted. As close to perfection as I’ve come. For $6.99 a pop, this beer is WELL worth the price of admission. browner (34), Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 12, 2008 Recently donated a bottle at the Lake Country Ber and Music festival...a late arrival and limited to two bottles but it was remarkable. This Quad pours to a cloudy reddish brown ( very cool), not a big head but a nice lacey head and off white/beige in color. Head stands up a bit. Belgium notes of malts, yeast and a backdrop of fruit tones. Pretty complex and carbonated as well...fun watching the bubbles. Really fine beer and world class in my book. Despite the price if available in your are or trade go for it. oldno7 (137), Spokane, Washington, USA

Aroma was a little more faint than I expected, which consisted of dark fruit, caramel, vanilla and malt. The flavor is very smooth and well balanced . With notes of fruit, brown sugar, malts and red wine. Very unique beer.
