REDBOSOX (70), Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, USA Jun 7, 2008 It’s a blessing to have friends that go to Belgium! This beer is FANTASTIC! At 11.3% ABV, you have to be careful not to get drunk too fast. This beer is amazingly smooth, has a beautiful dark brown color, is perfect on the palate, smells and tastes sweet, and has a nice aftertaste. This is truly a special beer that all beer connisseurs must try at least once. kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA Jun 5, 2008 Pours a dark brown. Sugary fruits and nut flavor. Not much of a hop presence but still finishes a bit dry to balance off the sweet flavors. Very nice. Bill86 (43), Tennessee, USA Jun 3, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Amazingly good beer, perfect palate, smells of raisins and plums. Never had anything better. NEARLY perfect. After all nothing is perfect but if something was....IT WOULD BE THIS. Well worth the 6 bucks a bottle. Infact i am buying a few more bottles tomorrow.
EDIT bought more and in talks about getting a case of this stuff, my favorite beer. budweiserblows (31), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Jun 3, 2008 33cl. bottle. Easily the best beer I’ve ever had. Strong, powerful, malty flavor with undercurrents of fruit. The strength of this beer is masked beautifully by it’s full-bodied flavor. Like I said, the best beer I’ve ever had. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jun 1, 2008 Rating # 2400.Bottle BBF 2005. Pours a dark brown color with a small fast disappearing off-white head. Has a sweet Malty and slightly earthy dark fruit aroma with hints of plums and raisins. Sweet malty plum and raisin flavor with some hints of honey and also some weak hints of licorice and some weak hints of yeast. Has a sweet malty dark fruit finish with a long warming dark fruit aftertaste. Very nice one. yankeefan21 (82), USA May 30, 2008 Pours a deep brown with a nice finger tall head. The smell is slightly sweet with almost a hint of bourbon. I took a nice healthy swig and held it in my mouth for a bit to feel a creamy softness. The alcohol is evident from the first sip with a malty raisin taste that you almost want to chew. As strong as this beer is, you aren’t overwhelmed by the light undertone of alcohol making this a very drinkable glass of beer. I understand the raving reviews. From the first pour to the syrupy finish to the lacing left on the glass, this is an AMAZING beer. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA May 30, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Color: The darkest brown. Full flavored but even. The aromas and flavors combine into one. Hard to isolate this and that. The alcohol and dryness act as the hop finish. Very creamy body. Yeasty and sour/sweet. theslats (6), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA does not count May 30, 2008 I like big Quadruples and this one does not disappoint. Roused the sediment and poured into my favorite chalice. Dark brown with a creamy tan head and a lace that hangs on to the last sip. Rich fruity flavors balanced well with rich sweet malts. Alcohol warmth reveals lots of complex flavors that are constantly evolving. Fascinating to slowly sip as the beer approaches room temp. Take your time and be richly rewarded.
