dionysus (95), Arizona, USA Aug 22, 2009 Bottle pours murky brown in color with a thin beige head. The nose has a lot going on, but what mainly stands out is raisins, brown sugar, bubblegum and a slight bit of alcohol. Flavor follows with the same, but also adding notes of black currant, apples, and a certain "yeasty" quality. The overall body is full and well rounded. Top class beer for sure. Cole (264), , Alberta, Canada Aug 22, 2009 Pours balck with a tall beige head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, yeasty and slightly alcoholic. Great flavour with notes of fruit, yeast, I taste bread in the mid palate and chocolate in the finish. Rather dry and very alcoholic really nice, but too alcoholic tasting. delnoche (210), Germany Aug 22, 2009 33cl bottle poured into a Rochefort Trappist glass. Very dark brown with half finger tan head. Aroma is very strong bubblegum and slight alcohol. Flavor is complex. Begins with bubblegum/candy. Earthy, toasty malt notes. A lot going on there I don’t know how to describe. Finishes equal parts sweet and bitter with some warming alcohol. Very interesting beer. Almost too sweet for me though. Definitely a "special occasion" beer. Rodders (114), Norwich, Norfolk, England Aug 20, 2009 (Bottle at Great British Beer Festival) Dark with tiny off white head. Smell was dark chocolate malt with coffee and burnt toast. Big, rich. Taste is strong dark roasty malt, super saturated mouthfeel with a little alcohol aftertaste. Warming. Wine and brandy notes with more grapes, chocolate - brilliantly balanced. Some coffee too. Excellent. Perhaps served a little too cold, but not the beers fault. drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2009 330mL bottle into an abbey glass. Strong alcohol nose with a nice flavor that grew on me as I went through the glass. WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Aug 16, 2009 Bottle 330ml marked L290812 08:44. BeerChaser0078 (283), Melbourne, Australia Aug 16, 2009 Bottle. Amazing beer. Massive in every aspect. Pours deep dark brown with beige head that lasts a while. Caramel, toffee, brown sugar, fresh bread, lavender and cinnamon are all present on the nose. Flavour is pretty sweet but it packs so much in: starts out with caramel, vanilla and raisins, then running into bready, yeasty tastes before finishing with a bit cinnamon, nutmeg and coriander. One of my favourite beers. Cannot recommend highly enough. RuneStumo (495), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway Aug 14, 2009 14.08.2009, 0,33l Bottle. Maybe one of the best beers in the world. Dark brown colour with off-white head. Rich malty aroma. strong alcohol taste gives a rich full body. Spicy, bitter and sweet. Very nice beer!
