COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Pours dark murky orange/brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma of fruits-sherry-plum-raisin. Quite sweet and malty, extremely smooth. Excellent finish with nearly no evidence of the high alcohol content. A brilliant beer!

The alcohol migrates up through the nasal cavity. At 11.3%, two of these will calm you the f down, and you need it. Trust me.

Bottle. A beer I should have ticked a long time ago. Dark brown with amber highlights. A big beige head over flowed the glass. A rich malty, caramel, and yeasty aroma. Also something like vanilla and leather. First sip is rich malts with a hint of alcohol. Dark fruit including raisins with currant. Nicely complex with a smooth feel. A classic.

Una delle birre più buone mai provate, piacevole, vellutata, dolce ma allo stesso tempo gradevolmente amara... Una belga top!

Bottle at Plattesteen. Pours medium brown with a beige head. Aroma of raisins, figs, dark bread. Flavor follows nose, with a bit of red wine oak. Nice full mouthfeel.

Dark brown on the pour, just enough off white head. I get a lot of dark fruit on the nose and the palate. Very complex with the number of different fruits that come through. Sweet on the finish. Just a very well done beer.

Shocked I’ve never rated this. Brown with gushing huge tan head that fades very fast. Yeasty, bready, spicy aroma that is just a hint tart. Flavor follows similarly, very bready with some dark fruit. Thin with medium carbonation.

11.2oz poured into a tulip- Poured a real dark brown with a bubbly head that shrinks quickly but not completely. Sweet aroma but not overpowering, quite nice. Taste like it smells not overpowering at all in sweetness and alcohol taste. Seems highly carbonated bubbles in my mouth. Some find it a heavy beer but I don’t. This is not my beer style but this is good.

Blind quad test against Pannepot, St Bernardus 12, Rochefort 10, Westvleteren 12, St Amatus 12, The Sixth Glass, & Chimay Blue My prefered order was; Pannepot, Rochefort 10, St Amatus 12, Westvleteren 12, St Bernardus, Pannepeut, Sixth Glass and last Chimay. This one is really the best of the classic quads, aroma compared to other quads you get a lot more citrus and some refreshing notes. Taste is some almost blackberries and plum, very much dark fruit, and quite earthy, it’s a real dark fruit bomb, with belgian yeast and some licorice and lingering citrus spruce inputs from the hops.
