4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 UDBeernut (872) - Near Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Bottle from Halftime. Going to compare this again in a year to compare how it ages.
dark amber capped by a small silky head that only reduces slightly. Nose is malt, sugar, and yeast. Taste is burnt sugar upfront, slight biscuit, hint of dark fruit. Alchohol rears its head as this critter warms. Silky creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Niall73 (43) - - MAY 24, 2013
Bottle. Pours dark, dark brown with big foamy head which vanishe quite quickly. Good carbonation with floaty bits. Toffee, bubblegum, booze and maltiness aroma. Pretty light on the palate for a beer of this size.Treacly, caramel flavour. Not as complex as I thought it would be. A tasty drop nonetheless.
4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 jonno (2013) - JAPAN - MAY 24, 2013
Deserves all the pundits..a great desert (or dessert) beer. Pours an amazing head, and has a sweet, (although not too much), taste. Quite a bit of sediment lots of dark fruit and really complex. A perfect sipper. Dark fruits, spices (cinammon, cardammon etc), port, vanilla, alcohol, scotch whiskey in the finish, berries etc.
.....and that’s me out. Cheers.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Imperial_Scout (133) - Illinois, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Poured from bottle into 12oz snifter. Medium brown color with light tan head that minimizes after settling. Deep caramel smell with dark fruit notes. Sweet toffee and caramel taste with just a hint of belgian spices with a touch of booziness. Not a huge belgian fan but I would literally drink this any day. Great beer.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Markkind (10) - - MAY 21, 2013
Strong raisin notes on the nose. More alcohol than the 8, but can barely tell. Full mouth, complex palate, semi clean finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Douberd (633) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 20, 2013
Bottle, 330 ml, at home. Poured into a trappist glass. ABV 11,3%
Very dark mahogany brown colour, with two fingers of soapy light beige head on top. Good retention, no lacing left on the glass.
Aroma of dark fruits, lots of plums, a bit of sugar, some hints of the alcohol too.
Taste of dark ripe fruits, a bit of bubblegum and banana at the end too. Sweet but delicious. Really great taste. The alcohol is only just a tiny bit notable.
Thick body, good amount of carbonation. Quite dry on the palate.
Overall a great beer, and without doubt the best of the three Rocheforts.

Worth the price of admission. Love the complexity in taste with various fruit notes of raisin, plum and cherry coming through as you sip.

330ml bottle. Dark brown color. Medium size, thick and sturdy head. Hold well. Plums, raisins, cake, toffee in aroma. Raisins, plums, sense of ginger, spicy flavor. Sense of alcohol and peppermint in the aftertaste. Full bodied. Delicious!

One of my favorite "shelf beers". Really similar to Westy XII. Don’t drink this colder than 50 degrees F, IMO.
