COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Bottle purchased locally. Poured a cloudy purplish-brown color with a medium light-brown head. Aroma is malty with a hint of brown sugar and sweet spices. Mouthfeel is kinda fizzy. Flavor is heavy in alcohol, with some fruit and it. However, this isn’t that good. I think I got a bad bottle, because it tastes kinda rough and yeasty (and I poured it correctly). I will give this another shot, because this one wasn’t anywhere close to the other trappist beers I’ve had.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, bottled on 16/9/2014. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, very creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Beautiful! Lovely, sweetish-fruity aroma of plums, raisins, figs, cherries, cane sugar, nuts and a bit of red wine. Very intense, sweetish-fruity taste of prunes, raisins, figs, dates, toffee, nuts and dark chocolate. Long, minimally bitter, pleasant but rather alcoholic and warming finish with a bit of whiskey. Full body, phenomenally creamy, lively carbonation. World-class brew with a wide range of flavours, maybe unexpectedly a bit shy with its aroma. Fantastic creaminess and very round, though. Huge!

Brown color, taste of a lot of dried fruit/plums and a bit of spice, carbonated, a bit of alcohol but so little for how much there is. As noted by most, a world class beer. There are some Trappist beers I prefer but this is of the top. Pretty easy to find as well for me.

Dark brown, with a soap film head. Aromas are very pronounced breads, yeasts, malts, and grains. A moderately viscous mouth feel. There are plums, red fruit peels, and figs in the tastes. A definite alcohol presence in the back of the throat, especially the warmer it gets.

Magnifica.

Pours a dark beige head with aromas of candy and chocolate toffee and light honey. Dark bottle brown body. Not hazy if bottle not poured entirely. Thick in mouth and very long. Malt leads to chocolate again. One of my favorites for red meat and cheeses. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown with thick white foamy head- great appearance but with a very faint sweet fruity aroma. Sweet grainy barley flavoured with some plum and sugary sweetness. Thick in texture. Smooth and full-bodied. Low carbonation. Strong but doesn’t taste strong - you do feel the strength though. Very nice but maybe not as great as I was expecting. Maybe my expectations were too lofty!

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2015 Wow Fantastic! Aroma is sweet with: bubblegum, vanilla, plum. Damn! The taste is so complex, I cant give a discription! Overall sweet but not cloying. You defenitly feel and taste the alcohol, but it doesnt dominate at all. Medium bitterness and a long finish! Great beer!

Foam: thick pale brown but quite quick diminished Colour: very dark brown Aroma: alcohol sweet, liquorice, spices, cinnamon, vanilla Taste: top class balance and elegance, this beer has so much flavour and complexity hard to describe them all, very complex, chocolate, spicy, loads of liquorice, burnt sugar, heavy yeast, vinous port taste, sweet malty, alcohol present but very good masked, fruity, one of the greatest beer worth to try, better not to cold.
