What am I going to say that hasn’t already been said by the other tasters on this panel?

Dark brown color with red shades; persistent head. The caramel aroma is rather simple, the flavor is much better; young it reaches the perfect balance between sweetness, bitterness and alcohol; caramel and malt flavor, chocolate cake.

2003-12-10, bottle 1 year old, 9-5-9-5-18=46
Dark amber color; big, creamy head. Very nice malty and fruity aroma, with delicate notes of caramel and roasted malts, oranges and spices. Full malty, without being too sweet; caramel and the balancing bitterness; light liquorice. Velvet pleasure. A perfect lesson for the North Americans, how to brew without excess, with perfect harmony of elements.

Nothing above this. Simply the best ever made... Dark brown with floaties and tiny off white head leaving fatastic laces. Aroma has spices, overripe fruits, plums, dates, prunes and figs. Taste is rich with spices, raisins, plums and dates. Smooth and very complex with fantastic depth and the alcohol is so well hidden.

Curranty aroma and flavor. Also a caramel sweetness. Alcohol is noticeable, particularly on the swallow, but not nearly as much as the abv would suggest. Chewy. I like this beer, but I clearly don’t share the passion for it that others do.

Bottle. Very dark brown with lasting beige head. Nose of raisins and brandy with dark fruits and dark bitter chocolate. Warming alcohol as well. Candy sugar and toffee. Good in mouth with toffee and chocolate, but the burning alcohol I find too much. Like the difference between the Westy 8 and 12, by having less it gives you so much more. Rum and raisin finish is excellent, but I certainly think that the 8 is overal l a better beer

From a 330ml Bottle 06/12/2009 Floral aroma. Dark strong in alcohol and malty. Smooth on the palate with a hint of dryness and bitterness in a warming finish.

Dark brown, brown small head. Parfumic, lemon aroma. Soft flavor, very fruity with prunes, grapes and hints of strwaberry. Full-bodied. Smooth aftertaste. Hides high ABV quite well.
