The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Definitly a sipping beer - Full/Complex flavors as noted in other reviews - very well balanced and creamy smooth - WOW! Although maybe not the best choice if you’re looking to pound a few quickly... possibly too flavorful for some - just right for me...

Pours a deep hazy brown with a thick, frothy off-white head. Heavy smells of fruit, banana, and brown sugar, and molasses. Light scent of hops. Moderately yeasty. Creamy and softly carbonated mouth feel. A bit oily at first. Deliciously sweet flavors of fruit, molasses, malts with a nice balance of hops. Warming and earthy, hides it’s high alcohol quite well. Coats the mouth in a nice flavor that lasts. Definitely lives up to it’s reputation.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours a dark brown with a nice head. The sweet aroma was awesome. Had a malty, fruity flavor. This is one of my favorite beers of all. Enjoyed this while watching the Steelers win the Super Bowl, made it even better.

for my 100th beer, i went out and picked this up since it was the highest rated beer that was readily available. cost was $7.99. i told myself i would use my knowledge of the previous 99 and give an unbiassed opinion. One hit of the aroma and taste, i knew there would be no problem with paying my respect. aroma: chocolate, malt, fruit, alcohol. appearance: very dark brown, cloudy, particles seen on the bottom. flavor: wow, very complex. starts sweet, then the alcohol is felt, then kind of a hoppy bitter takes over a tthe end. loving it! this has raised the bar of my beer tasting and i would love to find something that can beat this one! nickname: rockstar!

Rating #100. I have been saving this one for the perfect time, and what better time than now. Best by 07-2010.

Sweet aroma contains hints of toffee, pears, bananas, raisins, caramel and chocolate. It poured with a thick, heavy foamy head that was chocolately brown. The flavors are so dense and complex that even at the end of the bottle I was picking up on new things. There were first a taste of dark baker’s chocolate and a slight bitterness. This was followed by caramel and pears/cherries. After that, a slight carbonation. Then toffee and more caramel. It just sits on the tongue and unfolds more pleasures. The finish was a little strong, which is why it doesn’t get a full 5.0. The alcohol warms the throat but does not overwhelm the senses. As I said at the start, the closest thing to perfection that I’ve had yet.

Dark brown color, with creamy, persistent and adherent foam. The aroma, very complex, it is intense, attractive and elegant, with notes of chocolate, fruit (plums) and malt. In mouth it departs very strong, powerful, alcoholic for then to perfectly pass to an endless of tastes all amalgamate. The body is well structured. The long end, dry, spicy and bitterish. Bottle purchased to Messancy (Belgium) to 1,60 Euro. Divine delight.
