The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Bottled - my first quad. A whole bunch of raisin in the aroma, and a very sweet flavor but itís very smooth and very balanced. Absolutely delicious.

33cl bottle enjoyed @ home, 2011 bottle. Pours deep brown with some floaties, small off-white head. Aroma is massive with dried fruits, overripe fruit, nuts and raisins. Flavour is sweet malt and caramel. Full bodied, average carbonation. Finish is complex and long with plums, raisins and caramel dominating. I couldnít taste or smell the yeast. Very vinous but thatís how I like it.

Bottle: hazy, medium brown, light head and moderate lace. The aroma is dominated by a sluggish ferment profile. Cooked dried fruit. Funky. Maybe volatile. Dense. Very wine like. Over ripe and a stuck ferment. Also Anaís a lactic edge. Dry to off dry. Slightly sour but probably due to high CO2 and also has low bitterness. Intense flavor, great weight with loads of dried fruit. Itís a good beer. Either not great or a bad bottle.

Look: pours a cloudy dark brown. Light brown head. Smell: Apple cider vinegar. Apple skin. Sweet caramel. Taste: sweet caramel. Candy sugar. Apple skin. Apple cider vinegar. Unmatched savory flavor. Feel: medium carbonation. Mostly dry. Leaves a thin film on the mouth. Overall: ok beer. Very smooth. Slight savory. First drank: home 2/20/15 Vintage: best before 26.06.2018

0,33 bottle 2 years old purchased in Skopje (RIP Beershop Macedonia) and consumed in Kosovo. Pours a very dark brown, mahogany with a medium ivory head which stays floating on the surface after having lowered. Nose: macerated cherries, red fruit, fresh black figs. So nice! Mouth: aging a couple of years has not helped that much carbonation getting flat but still it has improved it. Same complexity and consistency of a Porto wine which actually this beer recalls. Dates, dry fruit, again macerated cherries under spirit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

There was quite a bit of smoke when I opened this beer. It pours a dark hazy brown with a medium sized off white head that had great retention and left some good lacing around the glass. The aroma is dark fruits, figs, raisins, alcohol, and some sugar. The taste is very similar to the aroma. I pick up the dark fruits, figs, plum, raisins, and some candy sugar mixed in there as well. The alcohol can be picked up in the flavor. The mouthfeel is on the heavy side and the drinkability is rather low. This beer is a sipper and not a gulper. This is not a bad beer and is worth a try but I think the Rochefort Trappistes 8 is a much more balanced beer than this one.

Pours a dark amber, cola-like robe topped by a fluffy tanned head showing great retention and lacing capacities. The nose is sweet, fruity, gives notes of chocolate, plums, figs, and salted caramel. The taste is also sweet but not overwhelming. The fruitiness is dominant with the figs and plums upfront and sweet chocolate in the back. The body is full but very cloud-like all at once. Some expanding booze comes through the back of the palate. This beer is complex and enjoyable. A perfect addition to any cellar, you can let it age a few years to increase its flavor spectrum. Cheers!
