The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2014 Aroma is somewhere between fingernail polish remover and fruit. The beer looks how a beer should look, no issues there. The flavor is smooth -- something like a light stout mixed with a citrusy ale. The mouthfeel is a little fizzy. Overall awesome, its very smooth for 11.3%, but too pricey to be a regular.

Pours a very dark brown with a very large, slowly settling, foamy mocha head. Aromas of dates, figs, caramel, chocolate, muscovado sugar, roasted oak, vanilla. Taste is quite sweet with faint roasted notes. Mouthfeel is smooth with medium carbonation. Very very good!

330ml bottle at home. Very good Belgian quad. Dark brown, strong dark fruits without a taste of alchohol despite it’s high percentage.

Wonderful aromas of caramel and chocolate in harmony with fruity tones. Sparkling, frothy foam when poured. Clear dark-brown liquid. Well balanced sweetness and bitterness - not even a slightly taste alcohol even though it is 11,3%. Fresh and not too heavy. At first it is sparkling in your mouth followed by a creamy texture, and a fresh, light sweet finish. I really love this beer - a perfect quadrupel, in my opinion better than Westvleteren 12.

From a 33cl bottle purchased at Les Fleurs du Malt in Lyon (Thanks Cyril!)A very dark hazy orange/brown with a beige head. Remarkable aromas of plum, blackcurrant and raisins. Incredibly rich and complex with a mouthfeel that makes every taste bud come alive. Very long finish with tastes of fruit, caramel and dark chocolate. A truly great rich-tasting beer with great balance, harmony and complexity.

COlore rosso scuro, marrone, molta schiuma. Odore frutta matura, fichi secchi, alcool, caramello, leggero vinoso. Sapore fruttato, caramellato, leggero tostato, dolce ma tagliato bene dall’amaro finale. Frizzantezza medio-alta, alcool ben nascosto ma molto corposa.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2015 Bottle (expiry date - X 2020). Aroma: from the bottle: dark chocolate, alcohol, quite roasty too. Appearance: black, cloudy (almost pure black colour) with minimal head. Taste: heavy bodied with heavy bitterness, dark belgian chocolate and fresh roasted coffee beans, alcohol is present as well. Reminds me a bit of belgian chocolates with strong acohol (kind of liquor) filling. Actually sweetness is less than medium. Full bodied. oily, with medium carbonation and long coffee-bitter finish. The best beer I’ve drank so far, I guess. I’m tippytoing more and more towards belgian styles. I like them.
