Commercial Description:
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Pours brown with a light tall cream head. Slight alcohol taste with dark fruit and caramel/malt. The aroma matches the flavor very well.

The beer pours a beautiful dark brown color. Has a thin creamy head to it. Initial aroma from it is an intense dark coffee/chocolate smell. After that it had a real nice burst of fruits to it. The taste of it is a real nice smooth blend of fruits and a hint of vanila. Very good beer that I am glad i tried.

Finally decided to pick this up. Pours a muddy brown body with a big kinda fizzy dark tan head in my Chimay glass. Some nice lacing also. Really good aroma of plums, sugar, raisins, yeast, and berries. Flavor is very similar with dark fruits, just the right amount of sweetness with a nice dry balance. Super smooth and easy drinking. Alcohol is no where to be found, even at 11.3%. Great beer.

Dark brown, thin head that dissipates quickly. Heavy malt aroma. Very fruity and caramel flavor with some alcohol aparent. Overall great. One of the best I’ve ever had.

Dark brown with a 3 cm pale beige and creamy head that settles into a very nice layer of foam on top of the liquid. The smell is nicely layered and rich. Chocolate, coffee and rye bread. Vinous fruits and a pleasant spicy character. Some notes of alcohol. Plenty of roasted flavors of coffee and toast. Very good taste of chocolate. Some wood and earth. A quite restrained fruitiness (plums, cherries, black currants). Quite a lot of warming alcohol in the finish. Some spices, hints of oak and vinous fruits rounds everything up. A very rich and sophisticated taste overall. Full body, very smooth despite a slightly sticky texture. Very pleasant mouthfeel. Phenomenal. A high-class beer for sure. Well balanced, rich and powerful. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

Bottle provided by thirdeye11. It is beer No. 999 that I have tasted. Pours medium brown with a beige head. Aroma is some alcohol with dark fruit. Also get some brown sugar. Flavor is alcohol, dark fruit and some brown sugar. An outstanding quadrupel and one that I will seek out again.

Pours a very dark brown with tan head. Aroma consists of malt and dark fruits. I taste a lot of malt and dark fruits similar to the aroma. Goes in bitter and out sweet. Great beer.

Wonderful deep, dark brown colour with lasting tan head. Aroma is strong and of fruit and malts. Flavor was also strong. Tasted malty with fruity notes. Not particularly bitter, sweet or sour. Well balanced. Finish was of a strong alcoholic kick though perhaps not as strong as one might expect. Overall this was good but I really did expect more particuarly given what I paid for it. Still I recommend.
