KawaBomber (111), New Jersey, USA May 14, 2008 Updated: May 15, 2008Bottle: Copperish amber w/ an off-white head, nice lacing. Caramel aroma. Very smooth caramel flavor. Nice beer. Doppelganger (1019), Oxford, England May 14, 2008 Bottle, from Noel Cuveliers, Abele. Deep red/brown horse color, sand colored layer of bubbles that refuse to leave. Old candy store nose, green grass, a pinch of cocoa and clove. Peppery milk chocolate sweetness, a little barn wood, mineral dry finish with a little lingering molassas tartness. gary07734 (18), England May 14, 2008 330ml bottled, pours a clear red-brown with a good creamy head.
Slightly dissapointing as I very much like the other Rocheforts. Nice fruity taste but a little on the thin side.
Not bad, but for a trappist there are better dark ales out there. ironchefscott (176), long beach, California, USA May 13, 2008 a great double...I think I like this more than the westmalle....more roasted malt flavor...at least in the smaller bottles of the westmalle for comparason....great estery notes and I must say....wow I hope to drink more of this in the future...great dark redish brown color and also tons of dried fruit flavors in the finish that works well with the roasted malt flavors mybestfriend (186), Gothenburg, Sweden May 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma is spicy with notes of meat, sherry and dried fruit. Flavour is quite spicy with notes of meat, spices, roasted malts and fruit. Not bad - but I prefer the 10!
