This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

DATE REVIEWED: August 3, 2014... GLASSWARE: Chimay chalice... OCCASION: great PSU weekend comes to a close...APPEARANCE: dark brownish red body that pours with a sizzle, then opaquely feigns daylight; off-white single-finger hand is bubbly with cream head... AROMA: plum, banana, some iron and blood rust; yeasts make the aroma slightly funky; rather faint for a Trappist... PALATE: surprisingly thin, but with as unsurprisingly long, warm aftertaste; creamy and extremely drinkable... TASTE: raisins mix with woody, smoky water notes; sugars mingle for sweetness; rather understated for a Trappist, again, but still chewable and rewarding slow sips...OVERALL: expectations were for something bigger; this eased off its intensity and actually proved elusive on its profile; good, but also worth its price if on sale....

Great nose, with caramel barley and rich butter. Taste doesnt disappoint it carries aromas and is fruity and fresh with a light sparkle.

I got this at Global Brew. Pours reddish brown with a tan head. Taste belgian yeast, Carmel, dark fruit. I thought this was pretty good. I would definitely drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Buona birra che però non ha soddisfatto completamente le mie aspettative. Buono l’aroma e buono il retrogusto però ho notato una schiuma troppo "porosa" e poco consistente, complice forse il bicchiere usato.

Bottle. Poured an unfiltered brown with a tan top that eventually dissipated. Taste of biscuit, sweet malt, caramel, and Belgian yeast. Medium carbonation, medium body

330ml bottle. Pours a murky brown color with enormous foamy cream colored head. Extremely carbonated. Fruity, spicy aroma as one would expect from the style. Smooth herbal flavor with fruity finish. Light bodied. Nicely done.

La germana petita de les rochefort però igual d’important que les germanas 8 i 10. Una cervesa a tenir en compte.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours a dark amber colour with a tanned, yellowish, stable head. Aroma of caramel with a nutty and somewhat woody touch, some grassy hops, liquorice, apple, plums, banana, wheat, coriander and brown bread. Taste is malty, banana, bread, lots of liquorice, lingering on the tongue, aftertaste mildly hoppy with a hint of warming alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen 16/7-14. Fruity and yeasty with notes of dried fruits and plums, sweet, medium to full body with an oily texture. The finish is a bit short and somewhat dry, sweet and fruity.
