3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle at bateaud e nuit, qc. cloudy light amber-red tint with a small light beige head, decent retention and classic. classic rochefort malt and yeast in aroma. caramel, spices, licorice, anisseed, herbal grassiness, pepper, fruitiness - some toasted malts. nice mouthfeel - nice lively and soft carbonation, light to medium body, earthiness, nice grassy-citrusy short but fairly present long finish. classic but nothing spectacular here.

This really is a fine beer, I tried it after having had a few bottles of the 8 (which could well be my favourite beer that I have ever had).
It looks very inviting in the glass, a browny hazy amber colour, initially with a rather foamy head which soon subsides. Smell wise indicates that there is a lot going on with this beer with spicy yeast, dried fruits and sweetness. Taste is amazing, initially a very tasty bread like yeast revealing spices, sweetness, slight clove like notes with various fruits. Ranging from bitter to sweet. It might sound like too much is going on but it really works. The finish continues with the flavours in your mouth leaving you wanting more.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Trappistes Rochefort was my first introduction to Abbey ales. Love it’s creamy full head, rich maltiness and yeast characters. When tasting this 6 it doesn’t seem to have the balance I remember from the 8 and 10. Had wasn’t as strong either and I’m noticing the colour it’s a little muddy rather than cloudy. All the same, love it!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
When I pried off the cap, the beer exploded out of the bottle, and I lost about an ounce of it on the ground. Trappistes Rochefort 6 has a fairly thick, fizzy, root beer-style head, which is audibly crackly, a murky, light brown appearance, with aggressive bubble streams, little lacing, and a lot of gray-brown solid chunks at the bottom. The aroma is mild, but one will detect figs, dates, sour-dough bread, and sugar. Taste is of those elements, with a grain husk and even citrus. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Trappistes Rochefort 6 finishes crisp and carbonated like Bud Light (hard to believe, but true) and easy drinking. I picked up some of the alcohol in the after-taste. Overall, this is delicious. RJT

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle into goblet. Pours a dark reddish brown with a fluffy light beige head and some settling sediment, lively carbonation initially. Aroma of dried fruit and subtle roasted malts, flavour of similar dried fruit (raisins?) and caramel with a medium sweetness. Complex aroma and flavouring, but kind of sedate on the palate.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: clear deep red to brown with very nice medium head that lasts. Very lifted malt driven profile. Muscat, dried fruit, figs and yeast. Very fruity and bright aromatics. Medium dry slightly soapy with a hint of ash and roast on the finish. Phenolic rather than bitter. Not sour. Palate is rich and dense but flat compared to the bright aromas.
Fine carbonation. layers of flavor
