This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Bottle. Ruddy chestnut colour. Spicy malt aroma. Quite high initial carbonation. Soft flavour, gently malty, bit of caramel, and some fruitiness. Lovely mouthfeel, very drinkable. These days the old school Trappists almost feel like Old World red wines relative to their New World or microbrewery cousins, full of refined understated class but lacking the extreme taste sensations of the upstarts.

High carbonisation level, too much, aroma - fruits, some spices, same as taste. One of my favourite strong ales! Tasted it first time long time ago, now it’s not so good as then, but still loved it!

Simply fine beer. Plums, raisins and banana with coffee and chocolate nose. Medium body, thin texture. Rather sweet taste. Palate of ripe plums and sweet wood. B@H

Aroma: Sweet malty, fruits like apricot and a little bit of caramel. Taste: very sweet but not bland. Dried fruits especially plum in aftertaste. Really full body with almost no bitterness and high carbonation. Very classy trappist beer like all of rochefort family. Price [Warsaw, Poland] 11PLN = 2,5 Euro (bottle)

De minst zware van de Rochefort-bieren, maar daarom zeker niet minder van smaak. Echt een goeie trappist
