This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

This pours a murky brown color with a decent beige head. There is a fair amount of sweet malts in the scent with yeast and citrus. The taste is sweet, smooth, and flavorful. There is the taste of sugar, plums, and other hints of fruit in the flavor as well. Well made, complex, yet very simple. Glad to see a brewery that concentrates on just 3 beers and makes them to perfection.

Robe ambrée sombre, opaque. Peu de mousse. Saveurs de malt, biscuit, prune, pruneau, fruits noirs. Légèrement herbale. Arrière goût vanillé. Texture crémeuse, carbonatation fine. Longue en bouche. Une excellente trappiste.

Pours a foamy finger and a half of head on a cloudy light brown body. The aroma is dark ripe fruits and leather. The taste is a nice fruity mix: plum and apricot mostly. A touch of lemon bitterness at the end. The texture is light and airy. Quite enjoyable.

Wysycenie średnie do wysokiego, goryczka ziołowo-kwiatowa, nieduża, odczucie w ustach półpełne. W afterteasie pozostaje lekko drapiący i rozgrzewający alkohol. Piwo smaczne, choć troszkę nieułożone, alkohol mógłby być mniej wyczuwalny w posmaku. Generalnie jest to skrzyżowanie Belgijskiego Ale z Triplem - w pół drogi pomiędzy piwem sesyjnym a degustacyjnym. Niestety najsłabsza pozycja z wielkiej trójki z Brasserie Rochefort, daleko z tyłu za 8 i 10.

Cor de caramelo, turva. Boa espuma e corpo médio. Aroma frutado.

Pours a five finger white head that fades slowly leaving a thin ring. Cloudy amber color, ton of floaties. Good carbonation and medium body. Belgian yeast and light spice nose and flavor is spicy fruit and Belgian yeast, very smooth. Best by Aug 2017. $5.45 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

Well, I am a bit disappointed. I was expecting something different but I just got slightly lighter version of 8 and 10. The head is non existing, color is not clear, it didn´t even resemble a normal beer. Don´t get me wrong, it is still pretty great beer but I was just expecting something else. Wrong timing.

Dark amber with ruby notes, a bit cloudy, strong and lasting off white creamy head. Aroma is of brown sugar, caramel, Belgian yeast and some spices. Taste is moderate sweet malt, caramel to toffee, brown sugar, some nuts, some spices and fruit, citric, a touch of yeast and lightly toasted bread in the finish and aftertaste. Medium bodied and strong carbonation, a bit creamy.

For me this was a great surprise as I had this after the 8 and the 10. It has some flavours of the elder sisters but this is as drinkable as you could get with a good bitterish finish. Great option for thirst without compromise!
