COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Reminds me a lot of their 8 except more bread and toffee/caramel sweetness. Also good berries in aroma/flavor. Very good, but slightly cloying - I can see why 8 is preferred by most.

Pours hazy amber with white head. Aromas of spices, dried fruits, not very strong. Nice mouthfeel of tight carbonation. Quite sweet but not very cloying, rather light for the sweetness and color.

0.33l bottle. Hazy brownish orange body, thin white head. Lots of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Aroma of caramel, toast, bread and orange peel. Taste of bread, juniper, caramel, apricot and toast. Decent beer.

Schöne bronzene Farbe, schäumt sehr im Glas und perlt schnell weg. Angenehm malziger Geruch, der sich Trunk fortsetzt. Sehr süffig, weich, im Abgang leicht bitter und einen Hauch Frucht. Sehr rund.

bottle at home. amber color, very big off-white head. yeasty, big fruity smell, red berries, fruity / sweet. full body, very bubbly mouthfeel, malty, honey, fruity, cherries, citric, alcoholic, spices, raisins, hoppy dry finish. big and complex flavors, but a bit too smooth, a bit boring.

Gangstergafje (20) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - FEB 7, 2015
Beer by the best brewery in the world (of it’s up to me). However, Rochefort 8 and 10 are slightly better. full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish, lightly bitter, medium sweetness, brown, frothy.

Amber beer, brown head. Hazy. Aroma of sweet fruits, spices, herbs, maybe some earthy aromas. taste: take light tea, mix with a little bit of wine, a little bit of of fruits. Add some alcohol and high saturation. And thats with light body. Beer is really refreshing, drinkable. I would say that I like it more than stronger brother of this, number 8.

Bottle. Much simpler a stronger varieties. Not so interesting. All the same, only the aroma and taste are less saturated
