COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Poured from a bottle with very little head. Taste is maltier and thicker taste than I'd like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Served in a trappist glass. Amber with a white head. Aroma is caramel, toffee and herbs. Taste is caramel malt and belgian yeast. Light bittersweet finnish. Strong belgian ale with high drinkability for a Dubbel but not so complex.

La plus légère et fruitée des grosses trappistes de chez Rochefort.Peut-être ma préférée, tout en finesse.

Bottle pour. Pours a cloudy amber color with a big fizz head. A bit of a skunky malt aroma. Some spice and herbal front flavor. Much lighter in flavor than originally anticipated. High carb. Finishes very herbal. It got more enjoyable as I went through, but I’ll label this beer as a simple : good.

Hazy dark amber, yeast floatties. Medium sized head, lasting and lacing. Aroma of dough, botanical notes, some fruity esters and caramel, beautifully complex. Balanced taste, sweet malt, caramel, a bit hoppy, very complex and ballanced. Nice swetish and herbal hops finish and aftertaste.

Nice golden head during the pour. Lighter in color than 8 and 10. The aroma is strong in caramel. A very good ale with or without food.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours a ruddy-brown colour with a white head that soon disappears. Quite light for a dubbel. Aroma of raisin bread and slight roast. Taste is sweet but with a long bitterness to finish. Quite lively on the tongue, fruity and with a nice finish. Overall very pleasant. My example is quite fresh, I suspect this will mellow quite nicely with age.

A beer amber coloring dark sweet flavor and very pleasant to me. Its alcohol content is quite noticeable to savor. I felt this beer as remarkable as his sisters 8:10, and actually the lightest of them. Ends up being the lighter weight of this Abbey, with first quality and balance, fine softer, starting with carbonation. I could feel in your body a tan and light caramel malt. Its aftertaste was nice and smooth. Has a higher drinkalibity on sunny days.
