Bottle. Cloudy medium amber color with a small fizzy fair lacing off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily and carbonation is lively. Very light and easy to drink.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (26243) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAY 20, 2003
The aroma is sweet and fruity with notes of alcohol. The color is redbrown and slightly hazy with a beutiful light brown head. The flavor is fruity, alcohol sweet and "brown" (like a brown Belgian beer). An OK ale - but thin for a trappist.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 yespr (25932) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - SEP 24, 2007
33 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with an orange hue, small sediments floating around. Thick creamy and light brown head. LOVELY floral yeast and slight sweet caramel aroma. Slight acidic and citric flavour, soon to go into a slight floral composition, with a solid sweet malt base. Ends in a slight spiced and distinct herbal finish. Great by all measures.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 15, 2005
(Bottle 33 cl) The smaller sibling to the two great Rochefort-brothers is still quite a mature boy. Dark amber, hazy with a small tan head. Very fruity nose - fresh fruit rather. Lots of yeasty flavours here, dry with notes of cocoa and perhaps licorice. Spicy and solid alright but an easier beer to drink than the the two big Roches. Fine introduction to the style. 240599
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 oh6gdx (18575) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 27, 2005
Bottled. Dark brown colour, big beige creamy head. Sour grapefruit and earthy notes in aroma, very bitterish. Sweet plum along with grainy/mouldy earthy notes. Extremely complex, though still I find it quite boring. Some yeasty notes in finish.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2012 hazy brown with white head. A bit of fruits and caramel. A lighter version than the 8 or 10. This doesnt make it boring though. Plum, raisin & caramel. It still has the long lasting taste and finish. Great!
Rerating June - 09. Vintage 2005 bottle. Wauw - aroma is off the chain - (again). Smooth, dried fruits, delicious liquorice. 4 Again - But closer to 4,1 than expected.
Re-rate. 31 Dec - 2012. Vinous, Rich and warming. Still has the yeast complexity that the 8 & 10 has. Great stuff..:-) 4 again.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2013 2013-02-17, L 270115 10:20, 3 years old, 7-4-7-3-14=35 Dark amber to chestnut color, with medium sized head, fizzy, not persistent. Some aroma of caramel, and already hints of oxidization. The body is quite lean, and the alcohol can be perceived, sign of continuous fermentation; dry caramel flavor, and still correct bitterness; a touch of chestnut honey, very light oxidization. Pleasant, mature, probably will go downhill from here.
2011-05-07, L 270115 10:20, 1 year old, 7-5-6-3-13=34 Amber color with red shades, and gigantic head. Interesting aroma, old Saaz, a bit cheesy and puckery too, and very light wood and fire. Correct body structure, although the flavor is on the simple side, just some caramel and light malt; the bitterness is quite low. The final tends to be weak. Besides the aroma that provides some interest, the rest is quite dull.
2003-11-16, 5-5-6-3-13=32 Cloudy amber color; creamy head. Strange aroma, with a vegetables touch (tomatoes); light spices (coriander). Quite dry body, balanced; thin malt and caramel, and again something vegetables (grass, tomatoes, celery); soapy. Too light final. By far not the best trappist.
