33 cl bottle. Yeast in bottom. Dark unclear colour. Aroma of dried fruit with hints of chocolate and some kandis. Someway thin flavour with a alcoholic finish. Not as good as 8 and 10

Oct 7, 2008 500th rating, it’s been a nice trip. Looks, smells and tastes a lot like the 8 and 10 but is just ’less’ in everything. Pretty sweet, caramel, dark fruits, some mushrooms, overcarbonated. Clearly not as good as the 8 and 10, but that is worldclass.

Oct 6, 2008 A pour of beautiful dark brown colour and massive tan head. Unbelievable aroma of brown sugar, molasses, and earthy fruits. Flavour is pretty good, but not amazing for a trappist dubbel- caramel malts, dry fruit, and nuttiness play a major role in the taste. Mouthfeel is intricately smootyh and dances on my tongue. The high carbonation plays nicely with the thin bodied texture of the beer. A great beer, but from what i have heard, this is a average trappist.

Oct 6, 2008 Although I can’t honestly say I know why I’ve never rated this, I fixed this oversite this weekend and the bottle I had was outstanding. A sweet, brown sugar-like aroma with some fruity overtones, spicy, yeasty and a good dose of caramel. Lively on the tongue, this one will definitely wake up some slumbering tastebuds if they aren’t ready. Flavor has an amazing complexity and range of flavors. Sweet, spicy, nutty, and fruity all play a nice role with this beer. Nothing really trumps the other, just a smooth ride from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours with a huge head, off-white in color. Good lacing and nice brown color. Aromas of molasses, brown sugar, spices, and some fruits (possibly banana). Lively carbonation with a nice slick, oily texture. Flavor is perfect. Overall one of the best beers I have tasted and I just wish it was easier to get this more often.

Oct 3, 2008 11.2 oz bottle, pours a beautiful, nutty brown color, tannish head. I let this one warm up a bit after the pour. Nicely spiced, with hints of molasses, plumbs, carmel, some dark cherry, raspberries, great malt flavor. I definitely think that this beer gets better as it warms up - the complexities really shine through. Comparisons to the 10 are unfair - one should compare this to other dubbels only. In this context, there are few (if any) that are better.
