This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Pours amber with a light head. Slightly citrus aroma. Sweet going into the mouth, then pleasantly bitter followed by some sweetness on the swallow. Nice change of pace as I have been drinking darker beers recently. Will have to try the 8 & 10 to compare. Nice beer.

Pale hazy brown colour. Steady medium head. Caramel in the aroma. Some malts and caramel at first. Flowery taste in middle. Sweet and caramelly finish. Well balanced, but not really interesting beer. Well balanced though. And well drinkable.

Murky brick red pour with a thin beige head. Dried fruit and a fantastic deep caramel, toffee, buttery aroma. Taste is toffee, dry, spicy, plummy, slightly boozy. As it warms up there’s a lot more dried fruit and warm, biscuity notes

Highly over carbonated while pouring. Slightly hazy, beautiful golden color beer. Pleasant fruity and malty aroma. In taste typical belgian strong ale, but very high quality. Not even tiny note of alcohol in taste, just warming all the way down. Super smooth, perfectly carbonated in the mouth. Really good, top class quality beer.

7.5%ABV. Belgian Strong Ale. Tapped out dark brown. 20ºSRM. Nose is floral with rose water sweetness. Mouthfeel is carbonated and sudsy. The grain bill is represented by some nice caramel, dark bread and some nice fruity sweet flavors suggesting dates and ripe black plums and prunes. Stewed fruit richness and sweetness as well. Finish is malty and medium.
