COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Hazy orange/brown with huge thick rocky head. Muted aroma of sweet, mushy malt, ripe green apple. Muted flavor: caramel, just a bit of tangy fruit, salty and savory (sausage?) bready/biscuity malt. Mild finish, not much contribution from the hops. Pleasant, nothing fascinating.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours a dark amber colour with a tanned, yellowish, stable head. Aroma of caramel with a nutty and somewhat woody touch, some grassy hops, liquorice, apple, plums, banana, wheat, coriander and brown bread. Taste is malty, banana, bread, lots of liquorice, lingering on the tongue, aftertaste mildly hoppy with a hint of warming alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen 16/7-14. Fruity and yeasty with notes of dried fruits and plums, sweet, medium to full body with an oily texture. The finish is a bit short and somewhat dry, sweet and fruity.

11.2 oz bottle served in a tumbler- poured a cloudy and murky darkened amber with a tint of dirty maroon when held to a light source, lively medium carbonation, just a broken white ring for a head. Aroma of plums, wet autumn leaves, and citrus. Hits the mouth with a wide body, malt is hard to find among a variety of fruity esters that are not overpowering, finish is drying and with some earth and spotty acidity. Yea, it’s been awhile...

Vörösesbarnás színben kerül a pohárba egy közepes méretű habbal a tetején. Illata kezdetben meglehetősen zárkózott, később leginkább fanyar gyümölcsök aromáját árasztja magából. Selymesen krémes, közepesen telt főzet egy, a család többi tagjához képest visszafogottabb, ám hasonlóan elegáns ízvilággal, melynek középpontjában a mazsola, dió és mogyoró ízjegyei állnak egy kevés kakaó és leheletnyi fűszeresség kíséretében. Igazán kiegyensúlyozott alkotás.

Unclear darker amber with a big frothy creamy off-white head. Yeasty. Caramel. Fruity. Some herbal. Complex and interesting. Full, soft body. Great of course..

Bottle from mcbackus....vintage 2006. Pours a mostly clear dark brownish amber color with small light tan head. Big sweet, malty, caramel, toffee aroma. Much of the same in the flavor, slightly watery and thin but caramel malt is dominant - some light roast notes, dark fruits and spicy Belgian yeast characteristics as it warms. Alcohol is there but very mellow and smooth.

very interesting and unique aroma and taste. Sweet aroma, but something a little off, a little stinky about it. Not really in a bad way though. A little musty may be a better word for it. A little flowery taste, nice and smooth, high quality.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours amber orange with huge white head. It smells fruity - apricot, peach, raisins plus some caramel and bread notes. It’s sweet, but well ballanced with light bitterness. In taste there are some friuty and caramel notes also. Highly carbonated, excellent, refreshing mouthfeel.

330ml bottle from Richard’s Groceries. Pour hazy amber orange with small off-white head. Notes of roasted malt and small confit fruit. Medium sweetness and bitterness, a bit salty. Medium body, oily and lively with a long sweetness finish.
