el_caballo (101), Beverly Hills, California, USA May 10, 2008 One of the best beers I have ever had. The apperence of this beer is just amazing, dark brown with a fluffy head that leaves a thin cover all over the glass. The flavor is bready with some dark fruit and a touch of chocolate. The palate is fantastic...lacks a bit of the complexity of 8 and 10 but it hardly matters as what is here is near perfect. I could drink this forever
TeamTrappist (134), jericho, New York, USA Aug 18, 2008 11.2 oz bottle which poured a cloudy murky copper red brown. Slight head. Yeasty, spicey, slightly fruity nose. Flavor is on the delicious side of things, with some malts and dried fruits. Some sweetness. A nice summer alternative to the 8 and 10, but who’s kidding who, isn’t that why we have air conditioning?
JCastner (21), New York, USA Aug 14, 2008 Pours a murky brown with a thick soapy head which leaves great lacing. Aroma is amazing with hints of grape, cherries, and figs. Medium body. Taste is of sweet caramel and dried fruit. It was missing the depth and the spiciness of the 10 but it is more refreshing and easier to drink. Nice dry finish. Overall, great for the style. They should make an air freshener out of the aroma alone. mirjukka (316), LOHJA, Finland Aug 13, 2008 bottle 330ml 7€ at OpusK Lohja EXP 060213
color:murky light brown Taste: malty sweetness tickling hops fruity bit spicy, bit sour. Pleasant aftertaste. Served bit too cold. i was expecting bit heavier taste ( I tasted 10 and 8 last year before Ratebeering time). evanrail (15), Prague, Czech Republic Aug 12, 2008 Nina says "Coke!" It’s gingery and peppery and not unlike the rye toasts we were eating (topped with a warm šopák, a good pairing). Another sip: lemon Coke. Mr. Pibb. Prune juice with slivovice. Strangely I’m not impressed at this tasting; I think I prefer Pardubický Porter (and from here I don’t think they’re that far apart). No, that’s crazy talk — bottom of the glass, and now (just now) I’m getting Dutch cocoa. On gingerbread. Atop a steaming paper cup of espresso. Another evaluation to come. Allstar (9), , Virginia, USA does not count Aug 10, 2008 This beer was just my taste. It had a nice thick head to it. Poured a nice brownish color. It had a very sweet smell to it. Also had a very sweet taste to it, rasin, fruit and toffee. Very smooth going down, and a sweet after taste.
