3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. The pour was a murky medium chestnut brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) light tan head that quickly diminished to a thin cap, which in turn created some excellent sheets of lacing.
The aroma was of a dark bread malt and a sweet Belgian yeast with notes of toffee, a plethora of dark fruit (cherries, plums raisons and figs) and a mild alcohol tinge.
The taste was a mild malty sweet with a good toffee note early on, then becoming a bit yeasty with a big note of dark fruit and a pronounced alcohol finish. The flavor however was short lived fading quite quickly proceeding the swallow, with the fruity yeasty alcohol taste disappearing in what seemed like a matter if seconds.
Mouthfeel was somewhere in the middle of light and medium in body with a slightly dry and a bit watery texture and a soft to medium carbonation.
Overall this is a very well put together Belgian Ale, although this one is a tad lighter than the Trappistes 8 & 10 from this brewer. Now donít get me wrong, I truly think they are all exceptional brews...

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish-brown with a big creamy to frothy head that thins quickly to a thinner cover but leaves only a little lacing. Aroma of grass, pine and hay, lightly bitter, medium sweetness, flavors of caramel, faint spices show up in the far finish, fizzy carbonation-way too much, and a sticky texture. Interesting.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Best before August 9, 2017 (assumed from stamp).
Appearance: The body is a clear copper to brick red hue with a tall and thin/fizzy off-white head. The head fizzes away to a soft coating.
Aroma: A whiff of carbonic acid and apples are huge, hints of brown sugar and grape are noticed along with orange marmalade. Very fruity, aromatic and enticing.
Taste: The carbonic acid is huge in the flavor, certainly throwing off the taste. I get a big green apple and brown sugar flavor though towards the end with grape with a slight herbal tea finish. Enjoyable but Iím sure that this is much better over in itís home land.
Palate: Overly carbonated, but a full body.
Overall: I think the big issues Iím having here are due to it having to be shipped from where it is. Possibly stored improperly or something. I imagine that this is meant to be much better in Belgium.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Middellang eftersmag.
Forholdsvis højt kulsyreindhold gør, at øllet skummer meget i munden.
Rochefort 6 er ikke St-Remy klosterets mest kendte øl, men den er udmærket uden at være prangende.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
How: Bottle, 1995 vintage, best before 2000-05-09.
Where: Shared with Halle.
Appearance: Dark brown colour with a small beige head.
Aroma: Cellar, fruit, limestone, cognac. Strong cellar aroma at first, that fades after a while and gives room to fruitiness.
Body: Medium body, very low carbonation.
Flavour: Roasted malt, sweet, rum, raisin. Fruity finish.
Comment: There are some off-flavours but it more adds to the complexity than destroys the beer. Aroma and flavours have developed in a very interesting way.
