COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

Pours a ruddy brown from a bottle with a quick-foaming cream-colored foamy head, just as quickly dissipating. Not much of a nose that I’m picking up, even though it’s rather warm after sitting out for a while. Flavor is dried fruits: cherries, plums, a little raisin, even apricot. Very effervescent in the mouth, almost too much so. A little alcohol burn. Good beer.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2016 Bottle. Shared with JD and Olesen. Creamy and round, but mild aroma. Soft and sweet taste, with classic belgian characteristics. I can see why it is popular, but it is just not my kind of beer.

Bottiglia.

Bottle. Hazy brown with a big white head, dissipates slowly leaving lots of lacings. Aroma is sweet cookies, malt, dark fruit, also a sour vinous tone in between. Taste is medium sweet with dates, plums, malt, again a complex vinous/berry tone with a creamy bitterness towards the end as well some warming alcohol. Medium to big body, medium carbo, sticky texture. Beautiful.

Brown color. Very fruity aromas, oranges, citrus, tropical fruit. Taste is if possible even more fruity - oranges, tropical fruits, yeast. Sweet fruits throughout the finish. A bit too one-dimensional.

Very good belgium trappe beer close to number 10 of this brand. The taste is going changing with less temperature.
