The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

I can feel the taste of herbs. The beer has a brown color and a little bit hazy. I can feel a lot of sweet tastes. Much more than a body of Rochefort 6 has. I very enjoyed this ale.

Pours a dark brown color, topped with a nice looking beige colored head. Aroma of yeast and cellar at first, some more pleasant notes of dark fruits and some grapes. Taste is better than the aroma. Sweet start with medium bitterness following it. Not my favourite style in general.

It pours cloudy brown with a strong head that lasts a long time. It has a slightly fruity aroma with spices earthly tones and bread. It is highly carbonated with flavors of fruit, spices, earthy yeast, with a dry finish and alcohol warming.

Bottle. Pours ruby with big off white head. Nose is brown sugar and dark fruit. Taste is similar with raisins. Sweet bread. Lots of carbonation.

Pours dark brown beer. Long-lasting head with a light brown-beige colour. Fruity taste with a hint of chocolate, plums and a bit of alcohol taste in the end.

Pours a hazy dark copper-brown color with a creamy ivory head. Rich and malty with fruity esters. Low hop bitterness. Bread, caramel, cherry, and prune notes. The mouthfeel is smooth with high carbonation. There is some alcohol warming. Medium body. The finish is sweet with a prune juice after taste that lingers. Overall this is a wonderfully delicious and complex beer.

Classic "special" trappist brew, appearance slightly muddy from careless pouring, amber brown. Speckled head atop refreshing dissolved bubbles. Sweet fruity taste, malty bread, less volatile and citrus than many Belgian brews. Liquid Christmas pudding
