COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

The taste is excellent. It is sweat and yeasty, has a compact flavor. Dark fruity character, with prunes and raisins and licorice. Also there are (the usual suspects) caramel ande brown suger - I almost forgot ;). Carbonation is just right for this beer - not to much, but prominent. Hides the alcohol very well, without an excessive sugarly taste. You drink this beer easy, and because of the compact flavor you might think this it is not very complex. But it is in the way the flavors are bound together that makes this beer so good. As if all the complexity comes together in a point of beer singularity (this is the beer talking) controlled by a yet to be discovered force of the universe. So...

Efímera en el paladar, pobre cuerpo de maltas sabor fresco pero carece de carácter, falta la presciencia de levaduras belgas

Deep golden, mahogany color, big and frothy off-white head. Dried fruit nose, roasted malt, candi sugar, Belgian yeast, hints of nuts and cherry. Sweet taste, fruity, yeasty, hint of alcohol, long lasting. Full to medium body, warming alcohol, soft carbonation.

Bottle 33cl. A dark brown beer with a small white head. At first aroma was of bananas, but then it fade away and it was replace by an alcohol aroma. There are some sediments at the bottom. It has a strong alcohol taste and also is heavy in carbonation.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours a deep ruby colour with plenty of sediment and a modest offwhite head. Aroma is of heavy alcohol and dry fruits. Heavy, rich and complex. Plenty of carbonation. Strong, lasting bitter and alcohol finish.

Dark brown color, which produces a layer of good and persistent creamy beige foam. The aroma is sweet and fruity with an alcohol touch. Those same notes also appear on the taste, dried fruit, malt with a nice creamy texture.

Deep dark and rich flavors, lots of depth in the finish. Dyer than I had expected, which added huge complexity.

Bottle alongside 6 and 10. Pours a cloudy brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have big caramel malt, Belgian yeast, dark fruits with fig, dates, raisins and cherry, chocolate, herbal notes, great drinking bigger brother to the 6.

Bottle to a snifter. Tawny brown with quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of fresh bread with honey and apple butter. Tastes of dried fruit, spices, caramel and roasted nuts... Delicious!
