| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Pours an unappealing cloudy brown with small head that dissipates almost immediately. Aroma is of yeast and apricot. I found the flavor to be unbalanced with too much sweetness and alcohol presence. TearsforBeers (173), Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2009 I only had very small pour of this one from the end of the bottle. I got a bunch of globs of yeast in the hazy brown beer with a decent amount of tan head. The aroma is heavy heavy of caramel with a bit of apricot, cheese, gooseberry, and long leaf teas. The flavor is similar to the smell - very strong in caramel and dark fruit. The Rochefort "harmony" is again present. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for such a sweet beer. I’d like to try this one again - I wasn’t as impressed with this as with the Rochefort 6. ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 15, 2009 This Abbey ale has a subdued aroma, is slightly sweet up front, rich in the middle, and slightly spicy hoppy in the finish. It has complex, aged and balanced flavor, with dried fruits, vanilla, figs, and even, dare I say it, slight cola. 3Faveryrogue (113), Aslip, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2009 I really tried to like this. But....rough pour into snifter gave this a huge frothy white head. Otherwise looks like brown poopwater. Sweetness and maybe some spice or bread on a rough swirl but not very much here. Creamy carbonated mouthfeel but not a whole lot in the flavor depot either. Finishes dry. Seems simple. It is nice and warming and kind of creeps up. ABV invisible. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Very dark but still obviously brown a small but lively off white head that seems to refresh itself constantly.
Rich and fruity aromas pervade through roasty malts. Raisins and black grapes. With a light smokiness through hints of brown spirits.
Heavy dark malty flavours with great fruity notes. Robust fruit like guava or something of that sort. Very deep and complex.
A little fizzy but smooth, thick and heady.
Very boozy but a great beer. Deep flavours, exquisitely crafted. hallinghansen (276), Odense SV, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Bottle. Hazy brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits and spices. Taste is burned sugar/caramel, dark fruits, yeast. Alcohol is well hidden. Yves (1052), Beerse, Belgium
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Hazy lightbrown coloured beer (poored in with some yeast) Medium off-white. A sweet yeasty aroma bit roasted and herby. Full sweeter palate. Finish is bitter sweet, (hints of caramel). Top beer. GMCC2181 (886), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Bottle black in color, good one finger head. Aroma of dark fruits and some spices. Also some yeasty earth aroma’s as well. Taste is a little spice, fruit, maybe a light touch of chocolate. Once it hits your tounge, lots of small carbonation bubbles come alive. Unique texture.... still creamy smooth. Alcohol is hidden well. Overall a good beer.
