COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2014 Bottle, 330ml. Pours a deep cloudy amber with two fingers of soapy light tan head, which dissipates quickly leaving behind only a thin sheen. Significant lacing. Aroma consists almost entirely of bread and honey, and quite potently so. No detecatable hops, but I don’t think that’s an issue here. Taste also mostly of honey and bread, with again no detectable hops and minimum bitterness, and perhaps hints of a typical sort of cake taste. One of the sweetest beers I’ve ever tried, but somehow not in a bad way at all; almost reminiscent of a good mead. Decently smooth mouth feel and very satisfying level of warmth from the alcohol in the back of the throat. Very enjoyable overall.

Bottle. Pours clear red amber with a quickly diminishing frothy white big head. Aroma is raisin, red apple, banana, caramel, clove, dark fruit, spice, bubblegum and candy. Taste is light+ sweet, bitter and very light acidic. Body is is light, texture is slick/thin, carbonation is lively. Finishes balanced, acidic and bitter with fig, clove and a tingling sensation.

Aroma suave que me lembrou nozes e banana. Formou uma boa quantidade de creme, não duradouro. Sabor levemente adocicado, álcool evidente, porém suave no conjunto. Ótima, como se espera de uma trapista. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska från SB. Mörkt kopparfärgad vätska med högt och kraftigt skum. Doft av russin, druvor och fruktkaka. Eldig munkänsla där russin återkommer i smaken.

Couleur sombre, petite mousse beige. Super

Dark brown red color. Thick head. Aroma and taste of yeast. Not that big taste and not so sweet. A little fruity. Dry. Medium to full body.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer ruby red color and a nice and large cream colored head, CO2 level is perfect. The aroma is complex of herbs, fruity and even a little bitter. Raisins are giving the sweetness to the aroma. The taste is sweet with hints of herbs. The alcohol and the tones of fruits are well balanced. Light sweet and a little dry. The finish is bitter, complex and long. Wow, what a good beer. I’m curious how 10 will taste.
