The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

Long tan head. Aroma is very strong, malty, a hint of alcohol. Taste is complex with medium sweetness. medium to ful body. A classic and wxcerlent trappist beer.

Pours a dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits, some Belgian yeast, and slight booze notes. Flavor is semi-sweet dark fruits. Deceptively strong - I don’t taste the alcohol at all, and the body is much lighter than I’d expect. Lacks the complexity and heft of Rochefort 10, but definitely a great beer.

Bottle. Dark color, hazy liquid, tan head. Higher carbonation. Wine smell. Aroma of nuts, cognac and malt. Medium sweet. Not bad, but I’ve had better.

11.2 bottle into a stemmed harpoon Leviathan glass. Thanks Troll. Pours a super dark Amber/brown with Ruby highlights. Aroma of booze, raisin, grass, granola, chewy malts, figs, plums. Super huge head gives way to ample lacing and a half inch left over. Sporadic spots left over. Taste of dark fruits, yet subtle on range. Smacks you once then draws back to allow chewy malts to bump up. Tangy flow, tart going down, and full bodied fun. Nice beer right here.

Great trappist beer! Aromas of chocolate, herbs, flowers and honey. In taste dried plums, honey, chocolate and a bit of heavy wine. With every sip you get closer to heaven :-) Perfect for a long time tasting. I haven’t tried the 10 yet, but my best Belgian beer ever. To the Trappist monks! Buy a bottle to support them. Hopefully that’s one of the joys of heaven.

Cloudy brown appearance with some bubbly head. Complex tastes of raisin, brown sugar, nuts and grass. Full body, good carbonation, and a good finish of brown sugar. Really good
