COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

A delicious and complex malt flavor makes makes this beer pretty special. It has a good balance between hops and malt flavoring, which allows the palate to appreciate the complexity of the malt.

A little sweeter and lighter than 10 but still excellent in its own way. Pours a bit lighter brown with nice head. Taste fig and carmel. Much better as it warms a bit from frig temp. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cerveza trapense oscura de muy buen sabor y menor graduación que su compañera la 10. Buena elección si quieres tomar una buena trapense

Bottle. Pours opaque reddish, dark brown with large offwhite head. Aroma is caramel, sweet malt, ripe fruits (apple, pear, peach, banana, pineapple), yoghurt and soap. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and light acidic. Body is light oily with crisp carbonation. Finish is long with notes of caramel, malt, ripe fruits, hints of burnt sugar, walnuts and cinnamon cookies.

Pours dark amber/mahogany with a decent 1 finger beige head. Smells earthy and of dark fruit. Taste is very complex, nothing sticks out really and it’s hard to pick out flavours, the more dominant is nutty maltiness and fig prune. Very creamy and alcohol is completely hidden.

Bottle: pours beatifully with a light but longlasting foam ending up as with a hazy orange/brown colour in the glass. Aroma is fruitful with hints of figs and a slight malty undertone. Taste is complex with different dried fruits to it, figs and is there also a touch of raisins there? The taste lasts long and the abv gives a great warm aftertone that brings the whole experince to another level. Great bear! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPad

Butelka 0.3L. Mętne brązowe z bujną kremową pianą, która szybko znika. W piwie pływają drobiny prawdopodobnie drożdżowe. Aromat: rodzynki, owoce, alkohol, śliwki i karmel. Przypomina owocowy likier. W smaku podobnie plus sporo alkoholu, który dobrze wkomponowuje się w całość. Wysycenie średnie do wysokiego. Bardzo dobre.

A great trappist beer with a characteristic and delightful taste and aroma. The 12 is better, but the 8 is a treat also.

33cl bottle at ’De Planck’ Gent. APPEARANCE: dark brown beer, nice stable beige head. NOSE: caramel, sweet, alcohol, coffee, reminded me of a certain type of coffee/caramel candy - mokatine. TASTE: sweet, alcohol, caramel, some liquorice even (faint), again the same mokatine candy like taste, coffee. Very nice!
