Pours deep ruby color. The smell is yeasty, sweat and fruity. Pancakes? Complex taste of fruit, chocolate, raisins. Well-masked alcohol. Close to the 10, but not as good. Pay the extra $1 and buy the $10

Cerveza tostada de color marrón oscuro. Espuma volátil que queda en una fina cremita em la superficie. Olor cítrico, floral, a azahar. Sabor muy complejo, potente y especiado. Gran cuerpp y gas vivo en la boca. Mejor no muy fría.

Pours a hazy amber with a small off White head. Nose is roast chestnut, stewed fruit and warm woody notes. Taste is round and smooth with an earthy character. Caramel, honeysuckle are balanced by a pleasant bitterness.

Bottle at Monks. Rochefort goblet. Disappeared for a while. Glad it is back. Cloudy brown pour with a huge frothy tan head. A pleasant step between the 6 and 10. Full but less syrupy than the 10 so this may be the best of the three. Rochefort is a bit different from the other Trappists in that instead of dubbels/trippels, etc. - the variation in steps appears to be intensity and not style. Such that the 8 feels just as a balanced style and not a dubbel. Rich caramel with dark fruits. Wonderful.

330ml bottle from Drinkswell, Ripon. Brown-golden colour, foamy tan head that dissipates away and aroma of malt, fruity orange & some peach. Taste is sweetish caramel malt, spice, dried fruit, raisins with lingering alcohol & light bitterness. Slick smooth rounded mouth feel, medium bodied, high carbonation. Well balanced, very drinkable.

Again a superb achievement from Rochefort! Strong aroma leads with convincing strength and balance with the taste. Appearance is clear and stylish with dark red/copper tones. Taste is well balanced and clear. Alcohol comes trough a bit but it doesn’t damp other flavors like fruits, figs and syrup. Some sourness. As in other Rochefort products, this also is a bit too sterile: there is no basement aromas or other so organic flavors. Palate is somewhat perfect with a right amount of carbonation.

I don’t think the fruits are that fresh on the basket. Perhaps decayed, perhaps dried, but the aroma is strongly sweet and sour. I love the sensation of the old barn, the cellar, dusty and mouldy. The earthy colour is not too attractive, but it does come across as very “BIO” and the head is not too persistent. Flavours are sour and fruity, within oak barrels, with some forest fruit honey, allspice and great Belgian chocolate. Alcoholic, no doubt about it and it is not well hidden, but never on your face. The palate is slick, vinous and the satisfaction is absurdly great.

Excellent beer, quite limited aroma but am fantastic taste and palate. Perhaps better in smaller doses though.
