The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

Bronze color, small off-white head. Fruity aroma. Figs, plums, raisins. Also caramel and spicy notes. Alcohol isn’t hidden that well at all. Some nice bitterness in the aftertaste. It’s not that smooth since there’s too much carbonation.

Botlle at home. Pours deep brown with a off white head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, plum, light liquorice, belgian yeast, raisins, light sugary feel. Taste is quite heavy sweet, with loads of dried and dark fruits, rasins, fig, plum. Quite complex, but a wonderful yeast.

330 ml bottle. Pours copper with a beige head. The aroma is yeasty with some caramel malt. Medium to full body with average carbonation. The taste is pretty sweet with some acidity from overripe stone fruits. Caramel, honey, raisins, spices and alcohol. A little to sweet in combination with the high alcohol volume.

Murky brown body, beige head that lasts. Intense aroma of banana, cake, chocolate, leather, herbs, light vinous notes and even a hint of cinammon. Medium sour taste dominated by yeast, with light fruity notes of apricot and strawberry - these belgian strong ales always remind me so much of fruit cakes. Medium body, creamy texture and lively carbonation. What is there much to say? It deserves the praise it gets.

Bottle. Deep Amber-brownish pour, turbid with a large frothy off-white head, crazy retention. Nose is chewy dried fruit (dates, prunes, figs), toffee, vanilla, molasses, leather, super-faint phenolic note. Mouth is medium bodied, decent carbonation, lightly creamy, sweetness, dried fruit, spice cake, candy sugar, orange peel, almost no detectable bitterness, finishes with some spice and a pleasant warmth. Very good.

Mörk brun öl med beige skum. Malt, jäst, bröd, sötma, karamell, russin. Bra styrka i den utan att alkoholen stör utan den är väl dold. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown body with creamy beige head. Hazy appearance. Smell is a bit faint, mostly sweet, a bit herbal, a bit toffee. Full body with thick texture and very subtle carbonation. Mostly sweet taste with slight alcohol burn on the tongue. Aroma is pleasant, herbal, floral; caramel, toffee, spices.... Excellent. Lovely balanced ale.
