The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

I let this one warm up a bit before pouring. Pours a cloudy brown with a nice fluffy lingering tan head. Nice dark fruity sweet aroma. Flavor is caramel, dark fruit, but surprisingly malty-bitter. Feels good on the tongue, but expected a lot more in the flavor department. That expectation probably impacted the score as well.

Heavy on the palate, nice carbonation. Looks great when poured correctly. Very good for my first trappiste beer.

Bottle from Maltitude. Pours brown with white head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, malt. Taste of vanilla, spices, and a slight hint of chocolate. A wonderful Trappist beer. Awesome beer and maybe my new favorite Trappist.

Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Une valeur sûre, on frôle la perfection encore une fois chez Rochefort. Notes de caramel, d’épices, alcool bien présent. Equilibre parfait. Génial.

Pours murky brown with abundant head. Minimal aroma, what there i is of honey and brown sugar. Tastes raisin and honey. Somewhat oily mouthfeelm really, the flavours are barely noticeable: weak and disappointingm

Delle tre sorelle rochefort è quella che si distingue per eleganza e misura. Ambrata, con buona schiuma persistente, aromi fruttati e a tratti speziati, con un buon finale aromatico

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2014 Brown color with nice white head. Chocolaty, yeasty aroma, vanilla maybe, woody? Complex taste of vanilla, spices, chocolate, super heavy finish, but not as boozy as it should be. Winey finish. Overwhelming, but super. A classic Trappist beer. Not as overwhelming as the 10 though ;)

Very strong beer with fine aroma and excellent taste. Maybe a little bit to strong for my taste.

A very fruity brew with a balanced sweetness. Lots of figs, raisins and other aged flavors. Fizzy mouthfeel takes away from the total experience. Some alcohol warming but nothing on the tongue. Good but not the masterpiece it is heralded as.

Topped with a thick white head all the way down the glass. Amazingly light & bubbly with trademark burnt raisin taste. Rated by BrewTom
