The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2013 I like trappist beer, and the most strong product of St Remy abbey (Rochefort 10) but the 8 for me is ever one personal competition, the first bottle maturated in bottled for one, two years the aroma and taste are very strong, heavy, with coffee and licorice notes, no sweet sensation. but the last bottle, very young, has sweet, fruity, with plum notes, this beer is much complex for me.

Bottle at Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. A Belter! Pours chestnut brown in colour, creamy off white single finger head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, toffee, light coffee, chocolate, dates, figs, raisins...exactly the same on the taste with added spices, ginger and some vineous notes. A Brute!

Cloudy brown, Amber tint, off white head. Caramel, lite spice, berry, floral, and mild lemon aroma. Full bodied, mild alcohol, mild roast, mild salt, fruity, and lemon notes. Medium bitterness, nice dry notes, and balancing sweetness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Prezentacja: czerwień wpadająca w brąz, klarowne, piana średnio obfita, drobna, szybko opada do krążka ;
Aromat: miód, toffi, owoce bardzo dojrzałe, śliwki, rodzynki, nuta spirytusu ;
Smak: słodki, za aromatem, w finiszu karmel, po głębokim łyku czuć uderzenie czystego alkoholu ;
Odczucie: średnio treściwe, bardzo oleiste, mocno nasycone, ;
Ogólnie: niezłe, byłoby bardzo dobre, gdyby nie ten przebijający się w aromacie i smaku alkohol .

Bottle. Big tan off-white head very persistent. Hazy dark brown with reddish hues colour. Aroma is very ripe fruit, prune, with cocoa an caramel tinge and sligth sour milk hint. Taste is fruity (peach, plum and prune), caramel, cocoa, somehow spicy with sweet acid finish. Full body, high carbonation, medium oily. Second similar rate tasting two different bottles bougth in two different shops. For me, not as good as most people rate it.

3/15/15 (Bottle) - Very nice dark brown pour, nice tan head, very thick texture. Nice fruit and caramel aroma, intense toasted malt smells . Excellent tasting beer, nice kick while drinking. I still prefer the 10 to this 8, but these are among the top few beers I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!!!

Bottle at home. Beautiful typical hazy Rochefort chestnut brown colour, beige creamy head that nicely laces and lasts. Roasted malty nose and taste with light coffee, light milky chocolate, molasses, dried fruit like dates, figs and raisins, gingerbread, spices, light sweet red wine notes. Soft mouthfeel and carbonation, medium body.

Bottle. Dark amber, almost brown with medium persistent white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, plum, chocholate, very fruity. Taste is light bitter, with characteristic chocholate notes and moderate fruity sweetnes. Dry, alcohol well hidden. Very well balanced beer, perfect trapist!
