COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

I enjoy this beer more than the Rochefort 10. I think it the alcohol of the 10 can get to be too much. At first, the aroma was of apples, and then as it warmed up more a a carmally scent. I wish it had a bit of a stronger mouthfeel. No complaints on the taste though.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours a clear, dark amber colour with a reddish brown pour with large tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee and dark fruits. Taste is vinous, sherry, dark fruits, more caramel and toffee, finishes with strong alcohol presence. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque brownish with a thick beige head. Aroma is complex : Caramel, plums, figs, bread, some roasted notes, belgian yeast spice. Nice battle between the sweetness and bitterness, relaying each other. Medium body with an creamy texture. Carbonation is pretty lively. Finish is a little bit bitter/spiced.

Beautiful brown red colour. Nose does not give away too much, but taste is sweet with hints of dark Belgium chocolate. Finish a little bit more spicy. Good balanced beer.

11.2 oz. bottle served in a shaker- poured a semi transparent very darkened amber with shades of black and darkened brown when held to a light source, creamy head formed and lasted while I put laundry up, had a smoke, and grabbed something to eat- quite awhile! Aroma of molasses, plum, sun beaten dark grapes, and yeast. Hits the mouth with a wide body, malt is light but is immediately brushed aside by the same aromas described transcribing into the mouth, middle holds up well with the fruit continuing, finish is slightly sweet and some pepper. This could be very dangerous for me- F’ IT, my middle name is Danger...

33 cl på torget i Bryssel. Kul att dricka denna på plats på riktigt. Lite för mycket alkoholsmak för att ge toppbetyg.

12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a dark mahogany color, with a massive beige head that persists, leaving excellent lacing. Nose is dark fruit, caramel, and brown sugar. Taste is dark fruit, figs, plums, etc. and a hint of caramel. Finish is long, with a creamy mouth feel and increasing complexity, finally yielding to a pleasant spice note. One of the greatest beers in the world.

Mahogany pour with a large, thick tan head which lasted throughout. Bigger medium body. Hidden abv, but a very pleasant warmth. Yeasty. Modest spice. Caramel. Dried fruit. Dark fruit. Dry chocolate. Complex. Elegant. Superb. Something that can be enjoyed again and again.
