4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is beautiful. Unique, balanced, complex, and yet somehow completely easy on the senses. The aroma is wonderful, very natural and appealing. The head is VERY foamy and disappears in seconds, I quite like that. What you get on the taste is an unmatched combination of dried, dark fruits, yeast and a mildly sour tinge on the finish. It’s remarkably uncomplicated and yet perfectly balanced and brewed - there’s nothing quite like this, except 10 of course, but I prefer 8.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Ogólnie rewelacyjne belgijskie piwo, cudowny smak i aromat, jedno z lepszych piw jakie piłem.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with a big, fizzy, off white head. Aroma is very fruity, fresh figs, dates, prunes, slight marzipan, belgian yeast notes, alcohol, nutmeg, lavender, spice, lots of caramel. Taste is sweet with caramel and toasted malts, but also a slight fruity acidity. Surprisingly fresh. Medium-high carbonation, medium-full body.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not the first time I had this, but my first attempt to rate it. Dark amber to brown, thin head. Poured it all in, so sediments is floating around, OK to me. Dark fruity aroma, cherry liqueur-ish alcohol notes due to the high ABV. Carbonation, alcohol and more cherries punch you at first, then a pleasant, long lasting caramel aftertaste is smoothing it all out. Fantastic beer, but to be honest it’s a bit too strong for my likings...

Together with it’s brother Rochefort 10 these are the two best beers in de world. Great taste, dark look, medium to heavy bitter but also a little sweet. All aroma’s are coming together when drinking it in the right glass.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy dark amber, creamy, tan, long lasting head. Sweet and spicy aroma, dark sugar, caramel, yeast, herbs, booze and banana. Medium-bodied and high carbonated. The taste is fruity and alcohol strong, fruit cake, bread, figs, raisins, herbs, caramel, red apples. Warming long finish.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Rochefort 8 for 800 rates. This marks two milestones for me. 800 beers and all 3 beers from the Brasserie de Rochefort. Nothing dethrones 10 (not for me, anyway), but 8 makes for an impressive sibling rivalry. Pouring hazy red-brown, 8 is as heady and lovely as the other Rochefort brews. Aroma has caramel, brown sugar, syrup, dark fruit, and bready grains. Flavor has caramel, fig, prune, and raisin - not to the extend of a Quad, but still all things malty, fruity, and rich. Alcohol note is sweet but the burn is expertly hidden. Same can be said for the effervescent carbonation - you see it, but the feel is smooth and slightly creamy. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate 800.

A cloudy brown brew with a lite tan head. Aroma and flavor is a slight mixture of malt, nut and fruit. Lots of carbonation. Nice!
