Very similiar to Trappistes 10. I tried them side-by-side and preferred this one. I felt that the smaller "8" was holistically a better beer. I can’t put my finger on it but IMHO this beer is more balanced than 10.

33cl bottle. A murky, reddened mahogany coloured Trappist with obvious sediment and a bubbly, quickly dissipating head. Plummy, red berry aromas with a background of alcohol. Dried fruit aromas with a bready quality amidst plenty of red berry notes and a noticeable alcohol content.. The finish gives a lasting sweetness with a whiskey-like bitterness. A light and sparkling palatte texture with a warming feeling in the throat.

Bottle.A muddy brown color pour with lively carbonation and a two finger offwhite head.Aroma of wine grapes, cherries apples and oaky vanilla.Flavor is dry and fruity at the start,as it warms you get more of the sweet side of the malt, some brown sugar and a touch of peppery spice.A crisp mouthfeel. Very good !

12oz bottle, nice turbid and cloudy brown color with a puffy head,. Smells malty, some spice but not much. The taste is unlike almost any other beer I have had, so strange. Gummy, spicy, malts, Dr. Pepper. Quite different but I’m not sure its my thing. The alcohol is well hidden which makes it quite easy to make it through the glass. Sweet malty aroma, pours a coppery brown with a tall river-pollution looking head. Im thinking this one has been filtered through a chain link fence. Lots of particulates in there. Slighty fruity flavor with notes of dark fruits and lighter fruits such as apricots, figs, prunes and some peach. Mild hints of spice like nutmeg and perhaps coriander. Finishes well with a slightly sticky palate. pretty good Belgian.

Pours a nice deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Some floaties in there. Roasty, sweet malt nose. Some yeast, some chocolate powder, some fruit. Flavor is complex and fruity, lots of dried and dark fruits, and great belgian yeast character. Creamy, well-carbonated palate. A bit of spice in the finish. Alcohol is not detectable and its very drinkable for 9%.
