I had a bottle in the Bierodrome on Kingsway, London. The colour was very muddy, which I didn’t find appealing, and the aroma was faint, but this could be because the beer was a little cold. The flavour was citric on top with a very warm rich dark rum undertone, slighlty hoppy. The aftertaste was long and equally as rich. Looks can be deceiving: this is a very good beer.

First: Very cluttered deposits, surely due to age. Does not hurt the taste very much if at all. In pouring, the color went from rather clear red, to a ruby, to an inpenetrable dark brown. Head was fleeting at best, though hangs on to a thin film. Again, likely due to age. Notes of cherry, alcohol, nuts, yeast, and peach. A very layered set of flavors, and very nice. Hoppy and aromatic. Whiffs of dust and cardboard. Nice lacing. Palate is crisp, sandy, and subtle. Long lasting fruity finish. A very nice beer. I think that a fresher one will do even better.

Second A very good beer, though a fresher one would do better, I’m sure. Certainly worth its praise.

May 9, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with a golden hew. Aroma and taste: lots of dark fruits such as raisin and prunes, malts, caramel and yeast. Good filling body with a low carbanation. Complex but I don´t find it as good as the 10!

May 6, 2008 Opaque tan/brown body with large white head. Nose of burnt berries, dark chocolate, bread, and a little alcohol warmth. The taste has sweetness in aforementioned fruit, but it tastes champagne-like, almost carbonated, and with a huge alcohol presence. For me, it contradicts the other flavors too strongly.

May 5, 2008 (Bottle at Hilpeä Hauki on 2008-02-23) Dark brown with hints of red. White browish small head. Malts and fruitiness in nose. A bit stinging feeling in palate that changes towards dryness. Malts and frutiness in taste.

May 4, 2008 dark brown with mild tan head. more carbonation than i expected. flavor of some dark brown candy sugar and a finish that is dry with peculiar aftertaste. this may have been a bad bottle, because it just didn’t compare to rochfort 10 and wasnt all that good. i must try it again
