The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

Pours with a beautiful full-inch-up tan foam that fades into a crater filled surface of bumby weird whipped cream with eiry leftover laces coating the sides. The glowing amber red lake sits murky, yet crystal clear around the edges. The aroma hits with a grainy goodness like fresh cooked homemade bread straight out of the oven with a fresh steaming cup of coffee on the side, but in way that makes you want to stick your face straight into it. The dance that executes across the tounge is amazing. This is no mere beer; this is a masterpiece. A finely crafted delicate dance of malt, yeast, and hops that emphasizes none before the other, but combines them in a refined balance of spice and caramel mellowness. Aye, Mother's milk, nectar of the Gods, may ye find this nearby and often.

330ml bottle served around 15 degrees in a tulip glass: Deep brown pour reminding one of prune juice exposing rich cherrywood highlights. The tanned head feels foamy, onctuous and settles down as a porous layer offering great lacing. The nose is nutty and has a lot going on with sugar cane, roasted malts, plums, dattes and even hickory and some smoke way in the back. The taste also has a lot to offer with a sweet attack from the sugar cane paired with the malts, resulting in a nutty chocolate presence with a subtle alcohol backbone. You get a medium lasting finish with a somewhat woody feature. On the tongue, this fine brew feels foamy as it explodes in your mouth and develops a nice oily texture. This is why I love tasting beer because once in a while you put your hands on a brew that just throws you off your chair (and for a good reason). Simply put, this ale is a must.

Malty, very classic aroma with a same malty taste, complex. Good, when you’re out on your own and want to enjoy a classic trappist.

Very good tripel. Not nearly as complete in taste and palate feeling as the rochefort 10 which is my favorite beer. Nevertheless the aroma is for me still a wonderfully sweet, fruity, and with a caramel like smell that I cant get enough of. Appearance is similar to the 10; a murky reddish brown with some yeast. Not the most beautiful in appearance, but still very good retention on the head, which i like.

Excellente belge forte des trappistes Rochefort.Très fruitée et moins forte que la 10.Corps de malt moins torréfié et liquoreux mais le restant tout de même beaucoup.Belle complexité de fruits mûrs et liqueur : cerises, fruits rouges.

Bottle @ home. Beautiful spicy and fruity aroma with red berries and plum. Brown color, light brown creamy head, good lace. You can taste the alcohol a bit but it is not overpowering. Nice long caramel aftertaste.

di sicuro non al livello della suo sorella maggiore (rochefort 10) ma comunque di notevole impatto...il tutto inizia con un aroma di spezie e fico che continua con un sapore deciso e leggermente secco e amarognolo nel complesso molto piacevole.

Clear dark brown with ruby-red tints, a fine off-white head. Lovey malt aroma with fruit (plums), lightly spicy, yeast. The flavour is sweet, malt and caramel, fruits, spices, very little bitterness. Beautiful and a fine younger brother to one of my all-time favourites.

0,33 cl bottle. Cola brown coloured beer with cream head. Taste notes are dark chocolate, light fruity, creamy and coffee. Quite intense with a good glow in taste. Its remarkably easy to drink.

Rusty brown color during the pour. Recommend to drink in a tulip glass which allows the beer to open up. Enjoyed but prefer #10!
