3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The bottling code on this one was L050912 08:21, indicating a bottling date of September 2007. The 9.20% ABV beer poured a dark (rootbeer) brown, and even with an easy pour developed a thick foamy beige head. Lots of sticky lacing is left as the head drops. The aroma has notes of banana, clove and yeast. The taste of the Rochefort 8 is malty and complex, with hints of vanilla, milk chocolate and brown sugar. There’s a slightly bitter aftertaste though the beer finishes cleanly leaving little behind. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated.

330ml bottle, pours a cloudy chestnut brown. Interesting nose; rum, chocolate, figs, dates, chestnut puree. Taste is incredible and difficult to describe without including finish. Briefly sweet and deeply malty but the carbonation lifts this away almost instantly, then a gentle wave of warmth slowly comes in bringing back the flavours of chocolate, mild oak, some nuttiness, sweet sticky fruit- dates, raisins, figs. Superb.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark brown color, topped with a nice looking beige colored head. Aroma of yeast and cellar at first, some more pleasant notes of dark fruits and some grapes. Taste is better than the aroma. Sweet start, a bit chocolatey with medium bitterness following it. A bit more creamy. Not my favourite style in general.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Caramel, raisin, drop, chocolate, fruity.
Darkish brown, starts with a huge off-white head and ends with a nice steady one.
Caramel, raisin, drop, chocolate, fruity in the end. Sweet from beginning till end, but still has a bitter taste woven in it.
The taste is slightly more sweet and softer than that of the darker 10, but still very good!

Still not my jam, but much better than 10, dark fruits and a strong malt presence, not bad!

Amazing. The perfect dessert beer. Sweet candied sugar, dark fruit, creamy malts. Fantastic beer. I might actually like this more than the 10. Sweet yeasty aroma from beautiful cream colored head. A dream.

Tykt skum med lang holdbarhed. Uklar mørkebrun. Sød med eftersmag. Fik 2 indenfor et døgn og den første havde en sur eftersmag men denne er god.

Beautiful. You just can’t beat the classics. Caramel, chocolate aroma and taste, sought bubblegum and banana but just amazing.
