4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - JUL 10, 2010Bottle. Poured a unfiltered muddy brown with bits yeast particles floating in it with a large light brown creamy head that had excellent lacing. The aroma was quite intense of sweet chocolate malts and an earthy yeast with notes of molasses, figs and plums. It tasted smooth and sweet with a slight acidic-alcohol flavor in the beginning and ended slightly sweet with hints of chocolate, dried friut and a mild alcohol aftertaste that lasted quite a while. Mouthfeel was medium to full in body and very creamy yet oily in texture with a surprisingly lively carbonation. Overall I can sum it up in one word, YUM!!!!
3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 HULK777 (23) - - MAY 19, 2013
Fantastic aroma of caramel, café latte, hops, cola, and fresh fruit. Sweet taste of caramelized pears, maple syrup and jelly cola candy. Acidity in the palate, especially in the aftertaste.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 lotsalaughs (104) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 18, 2013
Caramel, chocolate, grass, earthy, woody, red, brown, hazy, rocky head, tan foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, light body, creamy, average carbonation, bitter
Like 6, pours a frothy tan head (had to be quick as the bottle surged as soon as the cap popped). More of a dark reddish amber. Initial aroma surprisingly mild - subtle dark caramel with a bit of grass/wood. Poured into goblet and with warming, cocoa, and earthy aromas arise. Maybe some hints of dark fruit as well. Alcohol rises up as well. Carbonation falls quickly leaving a nice lacing. Taste is mildly sweet with some raisin and dark chocolate. Sourness noted with slight astringency. Bitterness is lingering and is light as well. Definitely more alcohol heat than in the 6. Mouthfeel is creamy and creaminess lingers in the finish. Personally, I preferred the Rochefort 6 (my rating below).
caramel, alcohol, resin, earthy, bubblegum, amber, hazy, frothy, tan foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, light body, oily feel, lively, bitter Pour is a dark amber with tall tan foam. Head of tightly packed tiny bubbles falls quickly. Aromas released are intense at beginning - dark sweet raisins or dates along with earthy bubble gum and resin. Alcohol is felt in the nose. Taste is slightly sweet with a bit of dark cocoa and again a reminder of dark fruit. Alcohol heat with each sip noted. Mouthfeel is quite thin with an oily feel remaining. A lightly bitter and boozy (pleasant like dark rum) aftertaste remains on between sips. A nice dubbel at a decent price. Will get again, but will also want to try their 8 and 10 versions.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Torrefacto (62) - - MAY 18, 2013
Color rubí oscuro. Espuma marfil.

Dark brown, full bodied with a nice creamy head. Roasted caramel and ripe, stewed fruits in the nose. A light acidity makes a perfect balance.

Very good beer with character, fruity and spicy, with a dry finish. For me it was a great discovery.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BeerFlavoredBeer (224) - New Hampshire, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Belgian yeast, overripe plums, and sweet raisins dominate. Some of the bread and spice in the nose comes through in the finish. Carbonation is strong, but not overly sharp. Alcohol definitely comes through in the flavor. Delicious.

Bottle from cotteridge wines. Reddish brown ale with small head. Aroma of caramel, malts and dark fruits. Taste is malts, dark fruits, sweet dark toffee and an alcohol kick. Medium carbonation that bounces the flavours around, medium bodied. This is world class, the best beer I have tasted so far. Wow.
