COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pretty dress with pale colors, lightly champanized, creamy and noble. High feeling of freshness at first taste, covered by a light bitterness perfectly balanced, when allowing all the natural flavor with its three components to give off with a great serenity. Beer now brewed by Caulier for La Rochefortoise.

Bottle, best before 2004. Den spytigen Duvel, Gold blond coloured, huge white head and a lot of carbonation. Sweet yeasty aroma, little fruity. Full body, lots of sprankling. Finish is sweet, yeasty with a little alcoholic touch. Nice one

Bottle, 6.2%. 2 years past BB date. Nasty metal aroma. Cloudy golden colour. Frothy white head. The flavour is better than the aroma, but nothing special. Yeasty with some OK esters. A bit acidic. OK mouthfeel and slight metallic aftertaste. Drinkable, but hopefully better fresh.

Bottle Conditioned, aged 4.5yrs, 330ml. Yellow straw colour with big clumps of yeast, I poured so carefully to avoid these that the head was minimal. Clevs to the fore on the taste front with a spicy body, full thick winey beer with a still sweetish finish despite the age. Interesting enough and a shame that it is no longer available.

(Bottled) Opaque golden color with big yeast clumps - lots of them! Medium, tight, creamy and lacy head. A sugary, distinctive aroma of red- and blackcurrants. Sweetish, malty, a bit wineous, berryish flavor with some acidity and smoky, ashy hints. A bit papery. Medium-bodied, carbonated and syrupy palate. A reasonably pretty blonde wearing nice, surprisingly natural currant perfume.

Bottled. Cloudy yellow, brief head. Deep papery aroma. Plenty of grassy hops, restrained fruitiness and some herbal spices. Medium body and bitterness. Well balanced and rather easy going belgian ale.

Bottle. Big white head. Cloudy dark yellow. Floral aroma - quite pleasant. Thin mouthfeel. Taste was an interesting blend of floral and bitter (and slightly sour) flavours. Odd, but enjoyable (and likely old).

Malty aroma, cloudy apricot, tiny head. Soft wheat taste. Light bodied, a little flat. Ordinary stuff. Cannot say who shared this one.

Bottle, Brussels, May 2005. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Rather bland blonde ale. Not that fresh though, I guess, and probably nearing the end of its life span.
