2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can from a trade. Nose is big in cocoa and fudge. Light milky creamy sensation. Pitch black pour. Small white head. Taste is initially bitter, seemingly thin mouthfeel. Second sip doesnít show much more. Just meh at best. Seems to be lacking in everything advertised.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells somewhat like coffee. Very dark in color Has some minor carbonation which I found interesting for a stout Nice creamy head on my glass of beer. Pretty smooth drink with no taste of alcohol lingering. Very drinkable and I would drink this again! Nice can for my beer can collection! Appearance Very very nice!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Whenever I see a stout marketed as being like a liquid dessert, I tend to get my hopes up. Itís hard to screw up a chocolate beer (though some breweries have done it); though Iím finding the ones that really knock my socks off are fewer and further between lately. Rochester Mills Milkshake Stout is neither under nor overwhelming; itís perfectly satisfactory. Itís a solid milk shake with some chocolate flavor Ė though not quite the beer milkshake I was hoping for.
I poured a 16oz can into a tumbler glass. It was canned on 10/29/15 and cost $2.79 ($0.17 per ounce). Thanks to Mike for this can!
Appearance: Dark brown/black color with magenta edges. Pours to a fairly large, dark tan, foamy head which retains and laces well.
Smell: Lactose sugar is prominent, but there seems to be a sweet cherry scent as well. Seems to be a bit of tang, and I donít pick up any chocolate or other candy-like notes.
Taste: As a traditional stout goes, this beer certainly has all the usual makings of one that really exemplifies the style. Sweet up front with plenty of dark maltiness. On the back end the roasted malt emerges and creates for a slight coffee or dark chocolate flavor (though the addition of cocoa nibs probably has something to do with that as well). Thereís a lingering, almost artificial sweetness that hides in the background throughout. It doesnít taste like a milkshake per se, though there is a bit of a milky quality due to the lactose sugar. Not much in the way of chocolate candy, though; since there doesnít seem to be any vanilla in the beer (vanilla is the prominent flavor component in chocolate). A slight tang on the back end with some roastiness on the aftertaste seems to be par for the course.
Drinkability: When I saw that Rochester Mills Milkshake Stout came in a 16oz can I was hoping it might have a nitrogen widget to play up the name, but there was no widget. The body is pretty standard Ė thereís a thickness to it, but thereís also noticeable smoothness as well as some crisp carbonation. Quite comfortable in the mouth with a lovely aftertaste. Itís very efficient for a beer thatís only 5% ABV, though that might also explain why itís not an intense flavor bomb.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sebring, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - 16 oz can. Dark crimson fading into black pour. Earthy aroma with hints of black earth, licorice and coffee. Flavor has some nice licorice accents, plenty of chocolate and coffee with a finish of black earth. Mouthfeel is nice and sticky, Rochester Mills raised the bar on this one.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
16 ounce can, stamp on the bottom says best before 11/21/15, 4-pack bought at Topsy Turveyís on a recent trip to Put-in-Bay. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The aroma is nice, the brew smells like milk chocolate, cream, roasted malt and some coffee. The taste is pretty much just like the aroma, thereís a lot of milk chocolate/cream sweetness along with some coffee and burnt/roasty malt bitterness. Itís a bit creamy, slick, and easy enough to drink. Thereís a good amount of carbonation in this. Not a bad brew at all, Iím glad I bought it. I wonít have any problems finishing the one can I have left!
