Deep ruby red almost light brown color that was very clear. Poured with a nice tan head that lingered for some time, that left nice lacing on the glass. Caramel malt aroma dominates followed by some hop. Dark caramel malt flavor comes through, they must have used a good amount of 120 deg lovibond crystal malt? There is some bitterness to the beer but no hop flavors. An average Red Ale not bad but nothing to rave about. Out of balance needs more hop flavors and bitterness to counter the caramel malt taste.

axilla (962) - New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 23, 2004
Deep mohogany color with an off-white head that diminishes kind off slowly. Not much to the smell. A little on the bland side. Very thin maple taste. Some sweet/bitternes shows up for a short aftertaste.

Eyedrinkale (3213) - Astoria, New York, USA - JAN 26, 2004
There are four types of hops and seven USA grains in this bad boy. Note the rating when I say "bad". Extremely malty finish. Nothing else.

Ruby brown with a small white head.Flavor is sweet.tart, with toasted /roasted malt notes.Another Rock Art beer that really makes me concerned about sanitation.

Volgon (2763) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 15, 2004
Bottled 11/03 drank 1/04: Clear orange ruby color with a quickly ending big bubbled head. Chemical aroma, thin body with an off-bitter aftertaste. Something is not right with this beer.

   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 3/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 7/20
muzzlehatch (4424) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Deep clear reddish orange, medium lasting head, lacing. Minimal caramel/woody aroma, hint of smoke. Poor flavor, thin, bit of nice smoky sugar at the end, but overall bitter w/o being hoppy, thin and watery.

   AROMA 3/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20
canary dog (665) - Rutland, Vermont, USA - NOV 26, 2003
Not very impressive. The color is good, a deep copper luster. But the palate is dominated by that stale, flat, oxidized hop characteristic that seems to plague many mediocre microbrews.
