Dacrza (164), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jun 7, 2008 Pours a dark brown, dense body wih a thin white head--solid for an amber... a nice balance of hops and malts, smooth and pleasant... slightly effervescent, quite drinkable--medium-bodied to the mouthfeel... nice malty sweetness with a sense of herbal fruitiness and a bit of caramel in the finish... a solid amber, versatile and consistent... I’d revisit this as a companion to nachos or pizza... can’t be too critical of this type tonight, although I see other reviewers have been more than that...
michael-pollack (1493), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 15, 2008 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of toasted malts, caramel, and bitter hops. Poured red with hints of deep orange, deep amber, and ruby in color, with a medium-sized, dense, tan head that diminished quickly but left a thin film. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Full of tiny particles. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of malts, toasting, and resinous hops. Medium body. Thin, watery, then chalky texture. Average carbonation. Malty, chalky, thin finish. Not very tasty. Very thin. fishonmyplane (108), Granby, Connecticut, USA Oct 13, 2008 The "clean" description is accurate, and I agree 100% with the reviewer who would like to have this with pizza or nachos. This isn’t a top-shelf beer, but it’s a good lawnmower beer with just enough flavor to keep it interesting. Not bad! probstk (695), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2008 12 fl. oz. bottle via Lubiere, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Fairly deep copper, clear with a moderate tan head.
Aroma: Slightly funky and skunky nutty, tangy malts, some light berry fruitiness, a touch of medium-roasted coffee and a little brown sugar, somewhat earthy.
Palate: Medium-ish body, fairly soft carbonation.
Flav.: Sorta like the nose: earthy, musty, some restrained malts, a little nuttiness and some light berry fruits; fairly dry with a little bitterness and a touch of musty hops to finish.
Underwhelming. puboflyons (388), New Hampshire, USA Aug 14, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with a date of March 28. I think that was the date it was brewed and I expect it was 2008. Pours a ruby red-amber tone with a beige head. Aroma of sweet malts and caramel or maybe honey. Medium mouthfeel. The taste is hoppier than the aroma. Also some malts. Overall a pretty decent brew.
