We brewed this one because we just canít get enough of those hops. IPAís seem to be a great choice any time of the year. They have a great malt flavor and hop profile, just what a beer connoisseur is looking for. We decided to give this one a bit more hops. Try this with a strong cheese like a very sharp cheddar, cloth bound, aged if you can find one.

Out of the bomber and into my snifter, it poured a beautiful hazy orange and left the same color body. A half centimeter white foamy head concaves gently into the body. The smell had rich fruity notes up front with hops backing it up very strong. Malts were more subdued. The taste was pretty much the same. The palate was about a medium with some slight sharpness on the tongue. At 8% for the ABV, the alcohol was fairly hidden well which lead to fairly sessionable beer. Overall, this would be a hop forward double IPA, I liked it for the most part, but probably wonít seek it out again.

Hoppy aroma with citrus, pine, and maybe a little strawberry. Flavor starts very sweet for an IPA, then finishes with some fruity bitterness. Not as complex as a lot of the double IPAs out there, but still a fine beer.

This one poured a darkish orange with just a bit of golden hue. A moderate head of tan foam that fell slowly and left lace. Nose is faded a bit but still lovely. Citrus and floral hops. Softly bready malt with a touch of brown sugar on it. A ripe orange and some earthy grapefruit peel. Light pine on the nose. Taste follows the nose. The citrus is bountiful and juicy. The grapefruit comes forward as the beer warms and so does the malt. Medium - light mouthfeel which tells me that if this beer has faded off it was once near west coast IPA style of malt. Light earthy pine some woodiness and this drinks very well. The bitter is perfectly acceptable to the fruitiness in the beer. It does not exceed the other flavors but it does last a bit into the aftertaste and pleasantly I might add. A soft bit of caramel is creeping onto the palate as it warms making it drink a bit heavier as it does warm. Itís good. With a freshness date on the bottle, it may have been very good but because there isnít one, I rated what was in my glass.

Appearance: Hazy amber to brown leaning body with a foamy dense light tan head.
Aroma: Slightly orange and grapefruit with biscuit, caramel and general malt sweetness. It smells like an American Barleywine thatís sat too long.
Taste: A little bit better on the taste, still malty and barleywine esque. Biscuit goes through with hints of caramel and orange/grapefruit. Bitterness is mild.
Palate: Full-bodied, mildly carbonated.
Overall: Not bad or offensive, but certainly nothing I would recommend to a customer. Itís a generic imperial IPA that borders on either being too old or too malty. Not bad, but not good.

22 oz. bomber bottled gifted by my neighbor after a Vermont ski trip. Pours an unfiltered burnt orange complexion with thick fluffy head and lots of floaties. Clean pine aroma. Bitter hop flavor with pine. Intended as a hop punch in the palate.

Decent IPA. Nothing special, was hoping for more of a bite to it that wasnít there. Possibly an old bottle? Was expecting much better, slightly disappointed.

A golden amber DIPA with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with good floral hops, citrus pulp, herbaceous character, very nice. In mouth, a smooth biscuit malt with good floral hops, grapefruit, pungent and piney, very nice.

Very smooth for a dipa, nice aroma and the simcoe hops give it a refreshing taste with a slightly dry bitterness at the end. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fine "Vermont" made double IPA.
