COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Moon is a limited-batch beer collaboratively crafted by Rock Art Brewery and Hunger Mountain Coop. Inspired by the private, intimate and richly renewing time when the moon is dark in the sky. Black Moon processes an alluring darkness brimming with possibility. Black Moon is a deep, dark, highly hopped offering whose roasted malts subtly eclipse its bright hop notes, creating a unique full-flavored beer that can be enjoyed throughout the year, savored in moments of solitude or among close friends

Gift from boss! Who doesn’t remember giving it to me. Must have been bottled at least a year ago. 22oz brown glass crown cap. Served well chilled in a tulip. Very dark brown with red hints. Fluffy, very light brown clay-colored head. Barnyard brownies, menthol, mild coffee, and dried fruits and grass waft forth challengingly. Only first sip shows booze. Wonderful earthy creamy texture. Flavors of coffee-cookie, mild basilly thing is very cool, a little Spanish brandy and toffee. Very good hoppy dark ale blurs the line between strong porter and IPA. Great with tangy feta, tomato, fresh thyme, black pepper, olive oil salad. Also the best looking label of any Rock Art beer I’ve seen.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to the CDA finder general, 27/03/14. Hazed dark mahogany brown with a moderate light tan swirl atop the glass. Nose is punchy hops, dark berry fruit notes, bitter grapefruit, grassy, light spice. Taste comprises bitter hops, roasty bite, grapefruit, cooca powder. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough CDA.

Tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to CDA sourcer extraodinairre - Leighton. Semi opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and crisp. Dry and light malts, touch of roast. Light airy malt cream. Mild tangy fruits and floral notes. Bitter pine and a trace of dark chocolate. Light dry finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in VT. Pours black-brown with a frothy khaki head. The nose has grapes, moderate roast, dry cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with dried citrus, burnt toast, cocoa. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Decent finish, some baking cocoa, good roast, dry grapefruit, burnt grass and pine. Good effort.

Very good black IPA, alcohol content is 10%, but a well balance beer, so you won’t notice it. In all, I did enjoy this brew

Purchased at City Market / Onion River Co-op in Burlington. Strong hop aroma and full bodied black IPA. Hop is dominated in the aroma and black malt and coffee note background. Flavor is also hoppy, but substantial malt body from roasted malt and caramel malt. Smooth and clean taste. The alcohol is 10% but not feels so high alcoholic character.

Draft at the Institute. Pours a deep brown, near black, with thick khaki head and blanket lace. Notes of roasted malt, smoked meat, chocolate. Decent hop bitterness on the finish but not much flavor, minor pine.

Aroma- some smoke, but otherwise empty. Dark black color with a Foamy tan head. Smoke, ash, hops barley. Hint of coffee. Smooth feel, above average carb. Not bad in the end. Taste is a bit funky.
