Formerly known as Extreme Pumpkin Imperial Spruce Stout.

It’s a big stout brewed in the colonial fashion with large amounts of pumpkins and spruce tips added to the kettle for flavor and bittering qualities. The pumpkins complement the malt flavors and are used to add sugars to the mash. Whatever you do, do not think this is going to taste like pumpkin pie. For a SLOW experience, pair with BBQ venison loin, extra sharp cheddar cheese, vegetarian chili, fresh warm soft pretzel dipped in a honey mustard or grass fed beef stew.

The stout pours dark chestnut brown with an off white head. The aroma is light sweet spruciness that comes off as candy hops a bit, no roasted malts. The flavor is light spruce hoppiness that serves well on a lighter body than expected for a stout.

Pours a dark brown color with an off white foam head. Has an aroma of caramel, spruce, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Dry, caramel flavor with some muted cinnamon and nutmeg. Very unique. Love that.

Seems I liked this a little more than most. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma has some caramel and roast malts. I got a litlle vanilla in the taste along with the malts, maybe a bit of chocolate. Not to much pumpkin to be found. Decent beer.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Light pumpkin spice aroma, with lightly roasted malts, piney hops, and some sweet malty notes. The flavor has piney hops, light roasted malts, and a hint of pumpkin. Pretty good.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is pine, caramel, spices and a little hint of pumpkin...smells almost like a car air freshner. Taste is sweet with understated bitters. Somewhat acidic mouthfeel.

Danke an Travlr! /11/12/11/10/11

11/26/10. thin looking brownish color with a small tannish head. lots of pine scented air freshener in the aroma... along with florals, roast and something vegetal. the flavor is vegetal as well... mixed with chocolate, roast and a ton of sweet pine (overwhelming at points)... it doesn’t taste real????. thin bodied and kinda meh... at least they got the food pairings down! 6/3/5/3/11

In short: A roasted, slightly chocolaty stout with a weird spiciness. Meh.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed relatively fresh approximately 2 months after purchase
The look: Dark brown body topped by a small persistent beige head
In long: Nose is a bit moderately roasted, a bit spicy (hot spices) and a bit fruity. Smells like a burnt spicy fruit cake and a bag of barbecue potato chips. Taste is burnt cereals, a bit of caramel, some chocolate, fruity notes and spices. The beer is moderately spiced but the spiciness does not feel like the usual array of pumpkin beer spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc…). No, here the spiciness is somewhere between Lay’s barbecue potato chips and Lay’s Ruffles all dressed potato chips, and yes I am probably more knowledgeable about potato chips then beer. Rock Art messed up this one… again. And their big “Extreme” logo on the label seems to be a ploy to attract a younger beer-ignorant crowd. Hey teens, say no to alcohol. Leave it for the adults like me who really need it.
