"Grab your darts and let's go!" This is a dark ruby red porter with a medium body. A slight hint of smoke is detected from a small portion of grains used that are smoked with beechwood. Pale, chocolate, black and crystal grains are also used with Northern Brewer and East Kent Golding hops.

It pours a deep dark brown and has a nice one inch speckled off white half inch head in my nonic. Foamy speckled lacing graces the sides of the glass. The smell has the smoky chocolate up front coming through in an ashy/coffee sort of way, reminds me like I’m smelling the charcoal from a grill. The taste is smoky and full of coffee bitterness, slightly woody and ashy again. That "meatiness" from rauchbiers comes out in the taste. The palate is medium and crisp with a dark bitter aftertaste and finish. There is nothing harsh on the tongue. This is pretty sessionable. Overall, this is decent for the style, but honestly I’m not fond of it.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2014 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy beige head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was bacon, malty, a touch roasty and a bit of smoke. The flavor was dryish and a bit malty with wood, smoke and a touch of bacon. Long smoky finish. Medium body. Ok.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It is an attractive looking deep brown to near black color with a long lasting beige head. The aroma is rather muted and subtle. I get some smoked malts but they are downplayed. I kind of hoped for more of it considering it a smoked porter. Medium body. The taste is a step up with a similar smoked malt character and clean, earthy finish.

Nothing much to say about this brew. Pours a clear brown with a thin head. The aroma hardly noticeable. Just some bread. The flavor is malty with a hint of smoke and an odd metallic taste. Very thin and watery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice dark color. Great porter aroma with smoky notes on top. Taste is smooth with smoke not overpowering the overall taste. Best smoky taste beer I have had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. Pours clear black with a large, frothy beige head, medium retention with good ringed lacing. Aroma is peat smoke, lightly smoked meats, chocolate and roast malt, pineapple and pear fruity esters, and earthy hops. Flavor is dark malt and smoke, light fruity esters, smoked meats, light hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Medium-light body, somewhat thin with medium carbonation.

Pours a solid dark brown with faint ruby highlights at the edges and a decent white head that quickly dissipates to a cap on top. Smells of smoked ham and bacon mostly, with hints of chocolate at the edges. I honestly have trouble fining much else underneath the smokiness of the aroma here. The flavor is a little better, but not much. Smoked ham with hints of charcoal and ash as well as some chocolate and earthy hops. The smoke flavor here is sharp and acrid and overpowers everything else in this brew. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a bitter smokey mouthfeel. I’m not a big fan of this one in fact I will avoid this if at all possible.
